How about a Kyosho Cactus? It doesn't have the pinion + spur arrangement you described, but it does have the other features and a very odd gearbox . The grooved tires front and rear were stock.

Man, that is weird. First time I've ever seen it. Cool set up!
If I remeber well it is a 1/12th model which explains why it is not commonly known. There's also a truck version. I discovered this when I lived in Japan and was torn over the question to buy or don't buy a nip truck that was on a local hobby shop shelf for months... I didn't as there was no competion I could use it in being 1/12
OK, so I'm backing up all my photos today which is a real chore considering I am a proud father and a family man at heart. Couple that with the fact that I literally believe a picture is worth a thousand words so post as many pics as possible. :D...
Someone purchased an old front one-way for a chain drive Optima. Could that person please shoot me a PM, I've got a few questions now that you've piqued my interest 8) Thanks!

Hello All, I have recently acquired a KO EX 11 Presto. It seems to have a problem. Every time I switch it on I get a memory error. Though I can get the radio to function by pressing the + and - buttons at the same time. It seems that some of the...

I took the radio apart and this model has no battery back up. The model memory half works. Every time I turn on the radio I get a memory error that I can turn off. The funny thing is that the setting are still there. I can change things and turn off...
I first caught glimpse of the JrX2 in 1988 at the age of 13 when a kid roughly my age was running one up and down the street at my aunt's home. I was familiar with R/C at the time having received my first hobby grade vehicle in '86 as a Christmas...

They made it all the way out to Okinawa Japan today :) And there were even a couple bonus items; thanks a bunch!
I have been trying to figure out which nikko 4wd car I had back in the day . I know it was black, had white wheels and had 4wd that was driven by shafts that ran parallel to the body on each side. I keep seeing the hurricane in my searches, but this...
