Looking for tubing similar to nose tube size?

Post by PBR Allstar »

Looked at my usual sources and didn’t see anything at McMaster or K&S but I’m looking for some aluminum tubing about 7/32-1/4” OD with about a 1/16” ID (needs to be under .080”)

Anyone have a source/link?

K&s 83060 is what I use. 3/16" x .049" wall tubing.

I use that and tap directly to #4-40 threads. the diameter is just right.

If I need anything else besides that, I just buy 3/16" aluminum rod from mcmaster and machine it on my lathe, ie, just tap the ends.

If you need something specific, give me a shout I can machine to your specs.

I was hoping for something ready to go but a little larger than 3/16 OD just to save the operation of center drilling each one (I have a lathe too😉)

I’ll just make them out of .250 stock.

I use the same one, and have made dozens of sets of nose tube from it. It's pretty decent to work with.

I agree, it's real easy to work with, bends nicely too.
