JRX Pro - does it make sense for vintage races?

I have been a R/C racer for many years, but racing offroad has been ...... well very long ago. Something around 30 years.

Now I visited a offroad race where also a vintage class was run. Hmm maybe I should have a go again ...
My first offroad car was the early RC10, when the JRX2 was released I bought this car and later the Proformance kit.
Then the JRX Pro and that is what I remember, not more.

Actually I would be just interested in running a Losi car again but I´m not sure which one or if it does make sense these days.
What I have left is a Proformance chassis, a couple of wheels, tires and shocks, a gear box and some suspension parts.
Unfortunately not a complete car.
Maybe I can find the missing parts, we will see.

But what I really wonder is, if the gear box would stand modern motors. The rules for the vintage race says 13.5T brushless motors.
My gearbox don´t use a slipper and for telling the truth I don´t remember if my Losi cars ever had a slipper.

It´s quite sure you have to use modern tires now, the guys said Proline.
The track is clay with carpet at the jump sections.
I think I might need also different wheels.

So what do you think, is it possible running the JRX Pro with a 13.5T BL motor?
And does it make sense running the Losi car today?

Contrary to much popular internet lore, the LRM transmission holds up just fine to the modern brushless. I have run countless laps on high traction carpet with mine. Sometimes I have a slipper, sometimes I do not. Just do not let the differential slip too much. On the modern high bite tracks anyways I run the diff very tight anyways so slipping is not an issue. Even if class was 13.5T I'd run 17.5T. Plenty fast enough and if you haven't done it in 30 years, a little slower will make you faster anyways.

Jtxpro is a good choice as you might as well stick with rear H arms. Easier to find and less failure points than 5 link. I have a 5 link car I run on carpet as well that has held up to a lot of practice laps but I am somewhat careful. If I was entering a race, I'd probably go H-arm at least on American tracks.

I think I see you are in EU, your vintage races over there I notice tend to have tracks that are set up better for vintage than the huge jumps we have here so you are in even better shape.

As to making sense, of course not, but vintage racing is not about making sense. If you want to make sense you go buy any modern car and be done.

I don’t think you would have any problems running a JRX Pro, it’s a great car. I would just add a Losi slipper or Factory Works Power Clutch and run the diff tight.

A B4 spur and slipper pads are a direct fit, have much more material and are readily available. Ran a 71 tooth spur, 17.5 on carpet and worked great.

As long as he has the slipper top shaft for the lrm trans. Pretty sure you can find them around.

If you even have a hint of decent driving talent,running the jrx pro will not be the deciding factor. Go for it! Have fun!

I feel like parts are getting pretty hard to find for the JRX2 Pro, I'm not sure that I would run it.
