Re: RIP Ernie Provetti (Trinity)
Met him once at a large hobby show as a young lad. I worked at a hobby shop so we had a booth. Used that angle and some friends and I ended up buying bulk motor brushes from Trinity. I like to think my 14 year old business savvy conversation with him made it happen. We made a custom jig and were hand filing the brushes to unique profiles we believed helped at the time. Whether they did or not, well....
They were quite popular locally, and I even ended up selling out of state to several tracks. That's my Ernie connection.

I never got the privilege to meet Uncle Ernie but he was definitely a larger than life icon in the industry and will be greatly missed.

Re: RIP Ernie Provetti (Trinity)
The fast guys at our local tracks in the 1980s ran Trinity motors.
My whole goal in life as a 12 year-old kid was to save up enough money to buy a Trinity 'Pure Gold'...
- To this day the parts-mat on my work bench is a Team Trinity mat.
I never met Mr. Provetti, though I think I saw him at 'RCX' in Pomona, CA, about 15 years ago.
R.I.P.

Re: RIP Ernie Provetti (Trinity)
Trinity had one of the first forums on the internet, of which I was a member, as was the founder of Clodtalk, which is how I got to CT, along with many of the original CT members. This was around 1999/2000 when I bought my first Clod. And, as many of you know, RC10Talk spun off of CT. While I wouldn't go as far as thanking Ernie for this little corner of the web we all enjoy, he did play a big roll in the RC industry.
Hopefully Trinity will continue in his absence.

Re: RIP Ernie Provetti (Trinity)
What was Ernie like? Seemed like a garrulous, friendly, larger-than-life kind of character. Looks like he could be intimidating if he was mad lol. I only know him through the old school RC magazine photos from old.

The best way to answer that is to just say, it’s best to never meet your heroes.TokyoProf wrote: What was Ernie like?

Re: RIP Ernie Provetti (Trinity)
He was pretty gruff and take no prisoners on his forum in the early days. Don't know what he was like in person, but I'm guessing a very strong personality that rubbed most folks the wrong way.
