Anybody know where to get a mint condition yellow label mod revolution motor? I have the stock one, but would like the yellow motor to complete a box art replica shelf queen...

There were three yellow ones: Killer, Insane and Brutus

OK, I am going to add some of what I know of the Revolution motor range, having looked into them for a while.

Back in the day I had a 17triple early yellow label Revolution motor.

The early Yokomo-based motors without the gold fins of the later Yokomo models were the normal magnet versions. The change to the gold fin endbell Yokomo design marked the introduction of the Wet Magnet range.

The non gold fin brown label Superstock was a 28T, which reverted to a 27T in the WetMagnet gold fin phase.

Some had the spec letter etched on the pinion end of the can, so 'I' for Insane, 2 for WetMag 2 and 4 for WetMag 4 etc....

For me, the early Revolution Insane was a bit of an Iconic motor, as at that time it was considered to be exactly that. Getting your cells to last for the 5 mins was hard enough with a 16Triple let alone the 'insane' 15Double.

The Revolution WetMag IV was seen as a bit of a special deal over in the UK, being a 16Quin. British Team CML driver Jason Varley had significant success on the European circuit running one in his Yokomo 870C, which gained plenty of interest.

I bought one bitd and have recently had it rebuilt - first skim so loads of comm life. It now pulls 39,000rpm at just 1.8amps on our dyno, but also has one of the highest torque figures of all on my motors on the torque checker. Very pleased to still have my original example and in such great condition.

As has been correctly pointed out already there was a very brief period when Trinity had a part share in Revolution and as such motors do pop up in Trinity configurations.

Just to mix things up a little I have seen the Revolution Oval listed as a 17D and 17T in different period adverts, and also the WetMag IV listed as a 16Quad and a 16Quin(!)

My collection includes a brown label gold fin standard 27T, a 17turn Oval, a WetMag II, a WetMag IV and another early pre Wet Magnet yellow label version which came already installed in my 834b and I haven't even removed it yet to check for can etchings or the potential armature spec. I have somebody holding an Insane for me, which has the 'I' etching, but i haven't actually got my hands on that yet.

One thing I forgot to mention is that they carried on selling the Dry magnet range after the Wets were introduced into the line-up, as you can see from that last advert.

This is some really great info. Thanks for sharing the research you've done. I used the specs to amend our Vintage Brushed Motor Reference Guide.

I recently bought a car that has a Revolution motor installed, and this thread has been mighty helpful. Once I get into that project, It'll be neat to get a better understanding of which version it is.

Just as an official way to confirm the Trinity link.... note the Epic-based endbells on the motors first and third on the right of the line-up on the CML advert above. They are clearly in the Trinity format as mentioned.

Here are a pair of Revolution Insane 15Doubles.... one of which I have purchased very recently. Note the 'I' etchings. Obviously these are in the Dry Magnet early non gold fin Yokomo format. I have wanted one of these since around 1988!

Another period listing here, showing how the winds possibly changed slightly across the range over time.

6054 is listed as a 16Triple here, whereas it is a 17Triple in the earlier advert i posted.
6102 the WetMag VI is a 16Quad here but is a 16Quin above.

That was posted in the Vintage Brushed Motor Reference Guide thread which caused a debate about the same Revolution MTM motors having different winds. For example some claimed the Monster Truck Motor came in two different winds, while others claimed it never did. I can confirm that it did in fact come in either 19x2 Or 18x4 as I've seen them new in the package with both.

Not all had the etchings either. I am trying to make sure any I purchase do have them (although easy for sellers to add I suppose).... My first original 17Triple that I bought way back when didn't have any etchings, that much I do know.

I could use some help identifying a motor I recently acquired -- it's a modified yellow label, the armature looks like it's marked "16", and it's a double wind. No markings on the can face. From info above (thanks dinglem!) I conclude it's dry magnet can, but I don't see the 16x2 armature combination listed anywhere for modified Revolution... I would have expected it to be original based on the other items I acquired from same source, but don't know the history so the armature could have been replaced. Maybe I'm misreading the 16??? Has anyone seen a 16x2 Revolution combination elsewhere?

The 17x3 Oval and the 19T (I think double) were the first Revolution production motors.
Before them I got a 16x3 and a 18x3 prototype motor, right for our Nationals.
The 18x3 was not working for me.
The 16x3 was one of my fastest motors ever. When the armature burnt later, I replaced this motor with a Brutus production motor.
Same wind but a tiny bit slower than the prototype.
I later had the Insane also, but for me this wind was never as fast as the Brutus.
The Brutus was my favorite motor for a long time, if you got the cells to last.
The 17x3 Oval was my next best choice for those guys who didn´t have the Uber cells.
A lot of guys at my racing club went with this motor and were very happy.
Other guys who didn´t have the same driving skills were happy with the 19T.
I think at that time you hardly could find any other motor at my buddies. Just Revolution motors.

You are correct. It appears the Jr's choice came in a double and triple wind.
