4wd SRB Trailing arm buggy

Still waiting for the universals, but I did get a set of tires from ebay. This dude had what looked like 4 proline champion tires on bolink rims. They were cheap (shocker!). The tires arrived, and if they are not prolines, they are almost perfect copies. No sidewall lettering though. The rims have a pattern that looks like it would fit frog/Blackfoot drive hubs. I'm not sure if I'm going to try to run them as is, or get them off of the rims and remount them.

Well, after much consternation, I got this car running. The Tf2 universals worked out, and didn't require any trimming of the replacement diff shafts. I bought some Frog wheel adapters and used them to mount the tires on the rims as mounted. Only one problem, the axles were too short with the very wide Frog adapters. Solution: Drill the center of the wheel to reduce the height of the wheel center, and hit it with a 10 mm reamer to square the bottom of the hole. Perfect.

I had to do some limiting of the shocks to keep the drive shafts were they should be. I guess these old school cars can't have that much travel without either falling out of the outdrive or too much dog bone plunge.

I put a Revtech mod motor in the car, I really don't have an idea of the wind, but it looks like a quad. The winding is perfect and it's super smooth wound up on a turbo 30.

Now, time to paint a body...

Body and wing time........ I had an original Assault body that really looks better than the body I was going to use. I bent the wing up with some sheet aluminum. Good times!

Ok I might actually be done now...

The original steering setup I made had pretty extreme bump steer. Just moving the suspension up and down it went toe in to toe out easy to see with the naked eye.

I know some of the aftermarket Hot Shot chassis used a single RC10 bellcrank to smooth out the steering, so I tried the same part. It's not without bump steer, but now it's much reduced.

This might be it, time to get some running videos in the near future.

Its virtually impossible to eliminate bump steer on a trailing arm 4wd car as the steering wants to be in front of the gearbox , whole thing is looking really good .
