He'll have to wait until he amasses 30 posts as we just put a new rule into effect of no PM usage for new members. Unfortunately, people creating accounts just to hassle other members with zero intention of actually ever using the board has gotten out of hand.
And so in the interest of getting to 30 posts(!), let me see if I can pick a few brains to figure out what I have here. I saw just one ad on ebay for a Rocky - actually it's for a pair of Rockys - and the seller is asking $1089. Is there something quite so special about this model? It looks to me you can buy a new kit (of equivalent quality???) for $300-$500 or so. Thanks for any time spent replying. I'd love to know more about what I have. In fact, this one was a gift so I didn't pick it out myself.
I forgot to mention that you can also make a donation of any monetary amount to skip the line.

Thanks for all this! To be sure, I'm not hoping to retire should I find a buyer! Just curious to learn about it. This one has been sitting in a box in the basement for 40 years. I enjoyed building it then probably only ran it outside a half dozen times at most, including last weekend to see if it still worked! Mostly, I don't think I had the patience for recharging times!
Yes, that was the seller in Japan that I referenced earlier.
Thanks again!!!
Regarding recharging: today's batteries have so much more capacity than they did in 1986. You can get NiMH packs the same sub c format that are 5000mAh, vs 1200/1400 back in the day. And chargers are a lot smarter. I've found I've gotten a little bored of running around my driveway before I ran out of battery.

I just found out my rare Rocky is actually just a "basher". I don't think I'll be digging very deep to skip the line!

Exactly. I bought a second 1200mAh pack at the time. If I recall correctly, that might've gotten me a total of about 10 minutes of enjoyment before it was time to pack it up!
If you decide to put money into it, Kyosho recently started a retro styled Le Mans brushless motor series. Not cheap, but pretty sharp. I've been putting them in all my retro Kyosho builds on principle.

Thanks, though I'm not planning to upgrade this one. At this point I'm just trying thin out some of what I've collected over the years!

Other than it supporting the best RC forum on the planet, making a donation this month also gets you entered for this drawing:
Several weeks ago, I bought a new Tamiya Mad Bull kit for my son and a bunch of old rc car parts. We've had a blast putting things together and seeing what we can get running again. We still have a ways to go... We're hoping to get enough cars...

Hello, that's interesting.
On the other hand, it looks like nothing perfect exists and whether the case, would not be an easy fit. Then I still continue to think that a 3D printed part would be the best option: so cheap to produce (about than 1 $...
Originally from France, I have been living in Switzerland for quite a while now. Almost 40 yo, kids growing ( 6 yo and 3 yo), it was time to fall again into my old RC stuffs. Like many of you did...

Looks fun. And with the 55T + speed limitation on the radio handset, it manages nice in the rough.

Does anyone have an idea of what this car will bring in good condtion with an engine? Thanks for any help.

Yep - FANTOMS are seriously collectible. NIB kits used to fetch well over 750 dollars on a regular basis years ago. Havent seen a NIB example for a while, but for 250 for a new built - well I would say that is a deal.
I just picked up a turbo Rocky in one of the lots that received recently. I know a lot about the car in the fact that I was raider based and an entry level 4wd.
The car is in pretty decent condition, but there are a lot of things...

Here's a Turbo Rocky that's selling on a local auction site...currently at around $US80..if anybody is interested I could bid on it for you....
This was my very first 4wd car kit I bought...My girlfriend and I had went to my parents for the weekend and I was bored
so I went into town and went to the hobby store...my girlfriend didn't want to go so I went myself..well I came home with
this...
Damn long name... Thanks to Eau Rouge for first dibs on the car. I've located a bunch of nib parts (chassis, chain drive parts, alloy hardware set, etc) incredibly quickly as well as the manual and parts list, it's all about being resourceful......

If I ever do get around to building the new one I have, I certainly wouldn't try to paint it myself.
