Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions
I'd still run an antenna tube even if my receiver didn't have an antenna.

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions
Now the only thing I have to worry about is finding a yellow or blue antenna tube. I have a variety pack of them with different colors. The green one I have on it now has to go.

Can you tell me what the JC diamond nose brace tubes does compared to stock? Besides sexier, is it stronger? I assume a major reason is it's lighter?
Thanks!
In my opinion, these tubes are definitely an upgrade in strength and weight reduction, as well as looks.
10T and RC10 nose tubes are different lengths mate..

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions
Ok, thank you for the clearing that up for me bully. Much appreciated. I was going off of what I learned from JConcepts. I was under the impression that the World's Car tubes and the 10T tubes were the same length:bully wrote:joey_zrl wrote:In my opinion, just by looking at them...they are a little thicker in O.D. than the stock tubes near the center and at the ends. Link to the JC article: (Scroll down to get to the info on the nose tubes)Chilly from JConcepts wrote:As you can see the JConcepts diamond nose brace tubes are much shorter in length than the stock tubes since those were designed to fit both the RC10 and RC10T. Since only RC10 kits have been re-released at this point JConcepts designed their tubes specifically for that platform. Like their diamond wing tubes, these nose tubes also use a unique hex design in the middle with a diamond pattern cut into it. Again I opted for the black version to match my color scheme but silver is available.

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions
Yeah, unfortunately they are incorrect. The original tubes were long in case you wanted to run in lwb mode, but without the holes drilled in the tubes it was not easy. The 10t brace holes are both cross drilled, they bolt to the bulkhead not the noseplate like the buggy. Truck nose brace tubes are also shorter than the buggy by quite a bit

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions
Yes Sir, that info from JC was very misleading. Thanks for making it more clear GoMachV. I will be building a 10T sometime soon, so I appreciate the shared knowledge. I'm really glad to have found a website dedicated to the RC10 platform.GoMachV wrote:Yeah, unfortunately they are incorrect. Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions
My Futaba R203GF receiver came in yesterday, and I've got it installed and linked to my 4PLs radio. Looking forward to this weekend to test it out, and get a few more pics of the car. Hopefully some action shots are in the mix.
I'm really pleased with how everything worked out nicely on this build. The gearbox was the only thing that gave me any trouble, but that was an easy enough fix.
Setting up the differential and the slipper clutch was pretty easy once I watched a tutorial video on how to do it. One thing I noticed during setting the slipper clutch was the slipper is very sensitive to temperature changes. I set up the slipper to slip for one foot or so from WOT takeoff early in the day with an outside ambient temp of 78dF.
Later in the evening that same day, I took the car out again (same setting as before) and got wheelies on WOT takeoff. So I learned to check the slipper before every run.

Re: Fresh Worlds build and a few questions
Thanks howaboutme! I guess receivers have changed since the last time I bought one.
It's not as long as the antenna's of old @7-1/2". I think that has to do with the switch from AM/FM modulation to 2.4GHz. Everything 2.4GHz these days has a stubby antenna.
I might just install the full length antenna tube that came with the kit to get that 'vintage whip' effect. No pun intended.
