I've tried to like losi, but I just dont really care...

Post by airbats801 »

I dont know what it is about losi, but I just cant get the same nostalgia or feel from them as I do from a rc10 or rc10t.

Maybe it was just those aluminum pans. When you held a rc10 you knew this thing was legit, hell it had a metal chassis!.

Or maybe it was just the name I didnt like. I dont know, but I always liked ae.

I'm bringing this up because I recently came across a few cheap rc cars off craigslist and one was a losi electric car around the same time as the rc10gt I bought. It was a losi rally weapon. Now I cant even go onto their site and find anything about it. I went to lhs and they couldnt help me anymore than losi's website. I need to replace a belt for the front drive.

The ae on the other hand, is just great. I can almost always go in and find a part that I borke or am missing off a old ae. I went and basically replaced all the hardware etc.. froma rc10 from off the shelf parts at the lhs. I think thats one of the biggest things I've enjoyed about ae over the years is they use a lot of the same parts in their cars. Granted you wont find white nylon parts anymore lol.

I dont hate losi, but it just doesnt seemt o get my into their stuff. I'd like to restore this rally weaponh which basically just needsnew drive belts, but that seems to be ione heck of a task and I know this thing isnt that old as it has a focus body...
2x rc10 A stamped, rc10t, rc18t, 3x rc10gt tamiya stuff - fox, lunchbox re-release, Custom chevy clod crawler, cc-01 pajero, 2x cc-01, kt full option, and 3 HL tanks. Looking for a rc250 and rc500

Its funny you should mention that as I don't get the same nostalgia feeling from them as I do with any other manufacturer either. But I shouldn't really talk because believe it or not I have never owned one! Its not by choice because I don't like them or anything like that, it just happened to work out that way. If I did go to buy one I would want my first to be a Junior T as I wanted one when they came out.

there awesome straight and simple!!! at least they offered all the goodies straight out of the box + there own branded hop up's. jrx2/pro are hot buggies!! self lubricating gear's, that rocks!!! was never a fan of the rc10 steering was the same for so many year's and they never offered ball raced steering until the worlds car lol. boring!!!! + those white parts looked like c**p after a few runs as they were filthy looking, the jrx2 with all the black well! 8)

I don't get the same nostalgia feeling!! what about gil jr with his ifmar winning yok 834b at the ranch!! that's losi's start with huge history a the ranch pit shop!!! 8) 8) 8)

I raced gold pans on dirt oval and in 96 I tried racing without my dads help. He had always set my cars up cause the reality of it all, he sucked at driving. So his pride was redeemed by being the owner/mechanic. So I was struggling with my CE and a buddy threw me the remote to his backup XX. Car was so silky smooth, I bought it. I love Losi shocks more than the old AE shocks. I never messed with anything older than the XX but I would rock a Losi just as quick as owning an AE!

I think a lot of it has to do with what your first real car was. I remember racing my falcon against Jrx-pros and RC10CEs back in 89/90 or so. I was constantly opening RCCA and staring at the RC10CE ads inside. I thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world. I had received some new electronics from my parents for Christmas(410-m5, Trinity Boss motor and new battery) and I had enough Christmas money to buy a new chassis and retire my Falcon. So I went to the LHS and there it was! The Jrx-pro Special Edition. Hard coated shocks, slipper clutch, powder coated springs. I began frantically counting my money just hoping I had enough. I DID! I bought it on the spot and the rest is history. One of my fondest memories of RC and the reason I am partial to Losi to this day.

The JRX2 was the best thing that ever happened to the RC10.
Without Team Losi and the JRX2/JRXT,the RC10/RC10T would have languished on with the same design for years.
Who knows how long it would have taken them to release the B2,without Losi!?!

Losi thought on a different level than AE and it showed in the race results of the time.
The 5 link rear suspension of the JRX2 is what got me wanting one...Now my shelves are filled with vintage Losi'.

If you want to get rid of that Street Weapon, that's the only car missing from my Losi JRX-XX shelf queen collection.

Tell me my JRX2 doesn't move ya?

I belive they are just Losi xx Street Weapons and the xx4 front belt is the same. Losi ardt bad you just have to know your brand. the belts are still avalible.

I never paid any attention to Losi's back in the day. Now though, after bearrickster turned me on to them I have a great appreciation for their simplicity, ease of assembly and the interchangability of parts. The JRX2 is one of the most unique cars from the period. With it's 5 link setup and the body that shrouds the rear shocks it looks like nothing else.

I don't particularly care for any losi with more than one x in the name. I know it's part of the heritage, but my collection skips from the pro-se to the modern oval/micro/crawler types with nothing between.

Something about Losi & Yokomo's goofy product naming schemes always turned them off to me. Kinda like the Merkur XR4Ti or the Subaru WRX STI, talk about your stupid arbitrary acronym names. When I see Losi names, I think some chick's writing shorthand kisses or seeing a porno film rating or something.

A Team Associated B44.1 Factory Team sounds worse than any JRX2,XX,or XXX to me...Anyways,Losi have gone for total simplicity in their new car-The 22.
Can't stand the '.1' crap...The B44.1 has looks only a mother could love,too.

I was thinking of starting a poll/thread on which automotive manufacturer would be the equivalent RC manufacturer.
Would AE be Ford and Losi GM? :?

That photo is the RC equivalent of bisexuality.
