Frankenstein Turbo Optima
Frankenstein Turbo Optima
Just got from Ebay. Trying my hand at a resto. I'am new to this forum, but I've gotten so much help from the great folks on here thought I'd try to get a photo up. (I do suck at this!) Hopefully Frank shows up!

Re: Frankenstein Turbo Optima
You have two sets of IMG tags. Here's your pic...looks nice! Gold shocks, sideguards, motor guard...and everything looks pretty clean. A great start for a resto project.
P.S. I'll try to get some pics of the parts you need tonight, but at the latest tomorrow night.

Re: Frankenstein Turbo Optima
He's missing those parts, Mr. ED, and mentioned this in another topic. C-carriers, knuckles & 12mm hexes. I PM'd him to sell him the parts to complete his front end.Mr. ED wrote:unsuccesfull attempt to try hiding the missing parts in the front?

So, now that I got hubs and knuckles from Coelacanth (Thanks Again!) I was thinking of new wheels and tires. Not crazy about the pink outrage wheels. I was looking for something old school and came across these.

or these

Anyone have any experiance with these? They are 12mm hex. Look to be for a road car but maybe old 1.9 spike tires would fit?

The first set I could do, but not the second set. Too goofy-looking for my tastes.
Are those 12mm hex? Got a link to where you sourced those?

Re: Frankenstein Turbo Optima
Hmm, I don't think those will work. They're the same diameter as Turbo Optima wheels, but are much narrower--only 26mm wide. Those are more for drifting & touring cars. You want to look for wheels between 35 & 40 mm wide if you want to use original rubber, 37 to 39mm wheel width is about perfect. Actually, *all* of the wheels on that site are touring car wheels, from the looks of it. The widest I saw was 27mm.GotXjaG wrote:http://www.r2hobbies.com
They are 12mm.

Good looking project car! Those wheels are a bit 'blingy" for my taste, but to each his own. Has the car arrived yet?

Re: Frankenstein Turbo Optima
I thought they would be to narrow. Guess I like them cause they would look good on mk1 or mk2 1:1 GTI. Guess I'll just dye the pink rims black.
