Post by KidAgain »

Need some help with this thing guys first didnt realize cant run a bulkhead the shock tower bolts to the trans no biggie, second my dogbone ears do not fit into the axle stubs??????? I tried various models I had and third do these use a standard spur gear or something special.

One of my other concerns once assembled I can move the drive assembly back and forth with slight force here is a video, is this normal??

This is what the shock tower for that trans looks like. Camber link holes are built in. We manufacture these reproductions if you end up needing one.

As for the dogbones, if they are original parts this was common. There was a line in the manual I’ll see if I can dig it up

Wow nice man unfortunately I want to use my DS custom G10 shock tower and it will work since I can use the bottom two outer holes for the camber links but the 93t spur it came with is huge and I may put a relief in like the tower you posted or run a smaller spur....................

The dogbone thing I will wait for your response not sure what to do thanks bigtime man..

If I am wrong with any of my assumptions please speak up guys..............

This is the line from the manual about the problem with the bone and the axle.

I will try and lightly sand the edges of the dogbone pins and hub carriers and see what happens if that doesnt work I will revisit here.....

How about the play side to side what do you think normal?

Do you have any literature for these

Looks like it just needs shims to me. Probably 5mm diameter. Traxxas makes some pretty cool fiber washers that would work.

I don’t have any literature, we only deal with the reproduction shock tower and chassis.

The side to side play is typical. You'll actually need shims with an 8mm ID to correct it.

Also yes these did use standard spur gears. The diffs used in the J-Cars were modified Thorp and MIP diffs for the Kyosho Ultima...they had a groove cut out into the pressure plate to fit standard diff rings used by most pan cars.

Phin any idea where I can get these shims from, as I was setting up my transmitter the car started to accelerate on the stand and carved a slight groove on the plate when the diff moved side to side without the shims kind of upset about it but no problems just cosmetic.

Looks like I’ll need a 1mm shim to take up the slack.

Thanks
Jake.
