Turbo Optima Mid SE Front Hub Question.

Post by LosiRacer1 »

So my new Optima has what looks like aluminum front hubs......and plastic rear. Is that standard? Or are the front after market? Just curious.

Thanks for all the help.

Interestingly, diecast aluminum was used by Kyosho for the standard kit front hubs.
This is true for the re-released versions as well.

Added strength for steering knuckles? My GV Beagle Optima clone is the same.

Thanks for the info guys. 2nd question. This is my first Optima I've ever messed around with. The body that came with it, seems to be too short for the chassis? Am I an idiot (distinct possibility  ) ? Or does that back hole in the body not go to the rear shock tower?
Wrong body for the car?

Your car appears to be original wheel base so that body should fit.
When installing the body, I've found that it's best to fit the front between the shocks and drop it into place first then the back will simply drop over the rear body mounting.
You're clearly not an idiot since you bought an Optima Mid.

Thanks for the vote of confidence
When I put the body on the front body mount the rear is 1/2" or so short of reaching the rear body mount. I'll take a picture when I get a chance. I can get one or the other. Not both. Is it supposed to reach both?

I would be curious to see a photo from above without bodywork and a photo of the chassis taken from below ....
I spent a lot of money on women, car, motorcycles, alcohol, and rc model ..... the rest I am quietly squandering ...

It looks like the previous owner incorrectly installed the rear shock tower to the back of the rear bulkhead instead of the front. Put it on correctly and your body should fit again. :) Here's a modded but correct assembly for comparison:
