Re: Rory Cull Rc10 Replica / '91 Euros
the halsey replica........another one of my cars that will probably never be "done".
i messed up when i did that car, drilling all the holes in the chassis. i only had 3 small pics to go by when i started it and one of those pics were from a later car ('88). well you can see which one i chose, the wrong one for an '85 replica.
but then while doing research for my cliff lett '88 roar nats car, i found this pic of halsey's car from the same race.
and here's the chassis i drilled out for the '85 replica.
my plan is to find a nice short arm 6 gear car, and swap the chassis between the two. then build a replica of his '88 nats car with the drilled chassis and remaining parts. why not, right?

Looks like the JG a1 bumper in the picture of Jay's car is the red version, but then I'm color-blind.

Yup, the '88 car has a red bumper. Which is good because those are easy to find.a01butal wrote:Looks like the JG a1 bumper in the picture of Jay's car is the red version, but then I'm color-blind.

And we're off...
I tore the team car down this morning. Gonna get the white parts scrubbed up and ready for a short peroxide bath. I don't want them super white. And if I feel like it, I may get the diff and shocks rebuilt so they're ready.

Re: Rory Cull Rc10 Replica / '91 Euros
it was nice out yesterday so i soaked the parts in peroxide until the storms came through. they don't look that great in the pic for whatever reason, but nice in person.
i also got some parts dyed. the rear arms, and a nice used stealth case that was dyed black previously and just needed to be freshened up. i don't have a pic of this car from the back so i don't know if the case should be black or white. a few other drivers, cliff lett's 90 roar, and i believe steve chamberlain's 91 roar cars had black trans cases to go along with their black rear arms. i don't know if they were trying different materials or what. so i figured this car being of the same time frame, i'd go with the black case. if good pics ever surface, i can always swap it for the white one if that's correct.
i guess when i get home from work tonight i'll get the forward/inline battery box holes drilled and countersunk on the tub (offset only on this one) and start throwing some parts at it.

In the body off shots I have of the car everything is white except the rear arms...... and I'm guessing the trans case. The pics aren't from this exact race though, but close.

Re: Rory Cull Rc10 Replica / '91 Euros
I'm looking at the color photo on the first page of the thread and it seems like the "wing" of the rear bulkhead (where the 9 camber link holes are) is black.
Here's a zoom of what I'm looking at:

Most of the drivers trimmed the ears off and used the longest setting at that point, my guess is your seeing the void and resulting shadow

Re: Rory Cull Rc10 Replica / '91 Euros
I'm gonna say its just a shadow, but I could be wrong. I'm going by rory's car in the first 2 pages of this thread.
