Futaba FXT: Cracking open some bags finally

Well I finally got around to cracking some bags. I have a fxt parts car but I'm hoping to build this one mostly all from bags.

Very impressed with the diff, it's very smooth and of course the fit and finish are Tamiya quality

This will give me the incentive to build the NIB one I have. Wait... Probably not. For about the last two years I've been unable to find the motivation to work on anything. I'll just build mine vicariously through you.

All I am missing to make it completely new are rear wheels, shock plastics, decals and body

UUHHH,, Im actually kinda impressed with that car. Ball diff,,, and rc10 ish tub??? thats cool! I always wrote off the fx10 because i figured it was just a re branded tamiya entry level model,, but even if it is,, ball diff, composite upper deck, and cool tub!

FX10 was a plastic chassis low end buggy, this FXT was an upgraded Stadium Blitzer chassis

Well damn, it seems I am missing a couple parts trees- luckily the same as a blitzer. Now I just need to decide if buying tires, wheels, body, and a couple parts trees is better, or just buy a blitzer kit and use the pieces

Little more progress. Tidy and simple steering, not bellcrank quality but efficient

Is the gearbox the same as on the Stadium Blitzer? If so, does Tamiya make that ball diff too under their own name?

It is slightly different, and I'm told it won't transfer but not sure why. Tamiya apparently did not make a diff that would swap in but those components look familiar

I'll probably pick up a blitzer kit, that will allow me to see what's going on there

Me too.... I guess I always had the FX10 and FXT linked in my mind.... I was looking at the first few pics and wondering why there was a Manta Ray style motor mount in there..... what a good idea, compared to the Tamiya version!

It's interesting the way they adapted the plastics over to the metal tub. It's also interesting the extra holes and such, makes you wonder what would have been next

It's really a great truck that more people should know about. I'm glad this thread is shining some light on it. I remember back around the time of it's inception it won some major race(s) but never came across the information again.

Yeah, I get the fxt and fx10 mixed up. So, I thought it was fact that the tamiya cars were re branded for futaba,, but if the diffs wont swap,, then perhaps its more unique? I like the manta ray like motor mount too. It would be very interesting to know the differences from the blitzer to this fxt.
