BlueBird/Robbe Cheyenne
I scored this one for a very good price thanks to Phin. Can't wait to rip it apart and clean it up, it's new but very dirty!
Sold by Robbe, manufactured by BlueBird makers of the optima clone we all love to hate, the Growler! Seems to share a lot with the Traxxas Wildcat as well, such as shocks. Likely the same maker
Enjoy

Re: BlueBird/Robbe Cheyenne
I happen to really like the baja growler. Ive missed 2 in the last 2 or 3 months also. Never ran one,, but now a days,, Ill run anything!
Bluebird and great vigor both made some really cool cars. Very rare,, and mostly lower prices.

Re: BlueBird/Robbe Cheyenne
I just noticed on the instruction manual cover it shows the bluebird branded bumper and mono shock setup. Inside the manual is corrected.
I love the resistor placement. Wonder how many people got burnt! Lol
All 4 shock bodies have stress cracks. The yellow oil must not be plastic compatible.

Re: BlueBird/Robbe Cheyenne
They are actually aluminum the car is quite brittle, even thoughts of running it would break components
The mono shock setup was not included. It's only shown on the manual cover. The arms are trimmed of their mono shock mounts

Re: BlueBird/Robbe Cheyenne
No kidding, that's pretty funny...but that's par for the course with most clones...to undercut sales of the originals, they have to cut corners somewhere, and it's usually with inferior materials.
Interesting rear stabilizer assembly. I like the body, though it's quite derivative of the Optima; the windows and hood & roof scoops and overall shape, even the simulated louvers behind the side windows are all Optima-ish.
With those wheels and RWD, maybe it should've been called the Foxima?

Yep, they liked to copy others design. It's filled with tamiya and kyosho influence. The gears are hotshot, even has the bevel for the front drive.

Re: BlueBird/Robbe Cheyenne
Yeaaars ago I had a clone of the FOX from Tamiya. Dont remember the name or manufacturer. It was cracked just by building it! Never ran. Im sure its super uber rare, and worth a small mint now,, and some lucky Tamiyaclub guy probably has it.... or not. Very cool old cars in plastic fantastic,, and your a brave man to collect them!

Re: BlueBird/Robbe Cheyenne
yeah! Thats the one! I actually built mine. Followed the normal precautions and boiled the parts to soften them. Cracked up anyway.

Re: BlueBird/Robbe Cheyenne
I think boiling only helps to rejuvenate old, dried-up nylon parts...probably doesn't help ABS plastic, though.
