Re: Been thinking about this for a bit....Nitro 12L3
Maybe it was the wrong first car to start my jump into nitro world.
But the Nissan body had me sold...Im glad i didnt get discouraged and decided to try again.
The second time around i got a Kyosho Corvette and had that thing running consistently everyday; Big difference.
Anyway, This build is looking better and better as you go along....
im enjoying watching this!

Baby steps my butt! Man this is looking great and coming together nicely. With that small exhaust I bet it will sound really nice. Please tell us you will at least start it...

As i suspected, I need to redesign the upper a bit- the shock is a bit compressed as it sits. The rest is going well. I don't think I will run the side to side brace like a L3, since it won't be supporting cells. The tank will be more central once I get a proper shape tank found and it is most of the weight on the chassis

That thing looks cool as hell. I'm no VW guy but image a bug body on that with the pipe in the rear.

Slowing down now, after making the brake strap I found there was no clearance so the top plate was changed once again. Now the big challenge is going to be the bellcranks for the throttle and brake strap, and their connection to the throttle cable. Should be interesting!

Played around with linkages for a couple days now, finally have a good system worked out. Brake is a simple pull system with a brass strap, and the throttle is a pull system with an integrated return spring. Next I have to locate the throttle servo in a good spot while I wait for my motor mount to be finished up
I will trim the white blocks and dye them black at the end

Cool as heck! It almost looks factory. I too would love to see this run, but you would need to find a sugared asphalt track or sneak into a carpet track and leave a little spooge behind!

Re: Been thinking about this for a bit....Nitro 12L3
I've come to a fork in the road.
Tweak is the single most important thing on a pan car
By adding the fuel tank to one side, tweak will never be correct
I can't center the tank with a T plate
I really need to go to a link style/lipo style setup, and I can, but now we are in two generation newer tech.
I'm now pondering the limitations of one vs the complete redesign to make it right.
Sugared asphalt? Hahaha that's awesome. I kind of want to take it to the indoor carpet track and see what they say lmfao
