Yep. That's the only way you could get the 360E. Which makes it extremely hard to find one without buying a whole buggy.

I purchased a scorpion on ebay and a Lemans 360 gold new in the box was included. Anybody have thoughts on that motor?

That's a very good, very torquey motor. It's actually a 550-can, not a 540. It'll pull wheelies in a RWD car if there's enough traction.

Not that I know of.

Here's an ad for the early Le Mans motors. The 360E has no part number or price.

It'd be interesting to know what the information under it says.

I picked up one of these recently for a decent price mainly because it's still packaged and for the cool Le Mans sticker. It's one of the few add ons offered for the Le Mans motors. This is the second one I've ever seen.

It's simply a long thin strap of steel that you wrap around your motor and tape off the overlap to stop it unwrapping.
Here's a scan of the instructions.

Thanks for the info Dan. You're right about Kyosho's version being rubbish. You would think they could have machined a steel sleeve to fit. I grabbed it while I had the chance though as it's one of those oddities that you don't see very often.

Bumping this one up from a while ago, but wanted to post a pic of my LeMans Motors (that aren’t fitted into cars)
Image

Additionally to these I have 2 x 240ST’s (in Optima and Turbo Mid SE), 1 x 360ST (in Turbo Optima) and 1 x Super Stock 34 (in Ultima Outlaw Truck)
Bottom row is obviously not filled with LeMans Motors
You name it - and I want it ;)

Nice, the LeMans motors with the annodized can and the color matched endbell are the nicest looking motors of the era.

I agree, they have a classiness that just stands out; they're not overdone with busy lettering, neon colors and garish graphics like many motors were, back in the day.
