Most RC hobby shops also come with a variety of employee types you can count on to help you with all your R/C needs. If you've visited enough RC shops or have been going to one long enough, you'll definitely have to deal with a range of characters, from the very best to the very worst.
That's an interesting first post on the forum. Welcome.... I guess?

Yeah I was confused. It looked like clickbait but the names been registered a year, yet that was the first post and no follow ups. While it's probably nothing, it's a very odd first post indeed. Entertaining tho, and that's why it's still here

We've all become so enundated with advertisements I don't think anyone minded the ad. It is an entertaining post if nothing else. It's funny because it's true...

I remember when my (thankfully now) ex-wife came home and yelled at me because the guys at her job told her I let her drive my VW with a dry radiator & no cap on the overflow tank. They were nice enough to fill the window washer tank with antifreeze for her

I've been around most of those employees as well. I love the #6 that tries to tell me what I need, then I beat him on race day with stuff he said "that will never beat anyone on a track or anywhere else, don't be stupid and waste your money and my time". NExt time in the shop, he quietly ducks away to not be seen until I leave. But the others in the shop remember :)

I have pretty much only had good experiences at hobby shops throughout the last 3 decades. When I was a kid, a an old sort of gruff, but really helpful guy owned a hobby store in Cockeysville/Hunt Valley Maryland with an indoor RC track in another building. His name was Gary Nixon and he was a well known world class motorcycle rider/pioneer in the '60s and '70s. He was quite possibly the most interesting and storied hobby shop owner ever. On the wall in his shop was one of his motorcycle protective suits from back in the day. Sadly, he passed away in 2011.

It is a little known fact that Nixon got a young Evel Knievel interested in motorcycles and helped him set up his first ramps and jumps during the 1960s.

Several years back we kept getting telemarketing calls from Cockeysville. We would get a good chuckle every time it would come up on the caller ID. :P

As someone who has worked for 3 different HobbyShops over the years, I would like to add one more piece.

The HobbyShop Owner.

I prided myself on great customer service, no necessarily a Know-it-all, but well rounded and excited to get people into the hobby. At the last LHS I worked for, the owner was such a control freak and tyrant that often my attempts to work with customers or try and deliver, often went ignored because the boss couldn't afford to get that order placed (it was a small LHS) and my attempts to deliver were thwarted.

I worked hard to keep people coming back and I had a very solid reputation and client base (so much so that people would often leave and come back if I wasn't working) just because they knew I made the extra effort. The handshake each time and knowing cust. by their 1st name etc.
