That's a slick layout. Battery terminals towards rear with the electronics behind. Like you said.......cleaner install.

And I can't wait to see this thing all buttoned up. Are you going traditional body style or "aftermarket"? Seems with that chassis footprint, you might have more options.

The body is the same Jake had done already. It's an original TRX1 'chute one I will festoon it to death with stickies to PO Marc



It needs a bit of extra trimming and adjustments, plus the shock towers neeed to be drilled, which is something that gets me slightty worried. I will see if there's a smarter way to shunt this step. I don't have the gear to drill CWF, plus the dust is nasty

the carbon fiber is perfectly fine to drill with regular drill bits. You just have to back the material with something sacrificial, such as a nice flat piece of plywood or scrap plastic. This will prevent breakthrough on the back side. For two holes, the dust will be very minimal, just sweep up or wipe with a damp cloth. A drill press is ideal, but you can clamp it to your sacrificial piece and use a hand drill too.

Cheers Joe, appreciate the input. I only have hand-held tools, and they aren't the finest to conduct "precision" drilling indeed... I also have memories of drill bit that got slightly distorted as I was pitting them against cwf plates. We shall see

well, I guess I should say, you need at least HSS drill bits, ie, not inexpensive chinese 'carbon' steel drills. HSS is industry standard for anything other than wood.

That's the plan, although only blue and fluo yellow stickies are gonna land there.

Electronics finally mounted and soldered in woo-hoo!

Starting with the speedo - it's a hit-or-miss job to solder two wires on one plug, and this time it was a hit



Then the rest, neatly tucked in black shrink wrap, with servo wires getting the "black sharpie" treatment





CWF Battery holders installed, but a bit too short... it "fits" but not as nicely as I'd like it to. I will have to special order them, or pull out the dremel to widen the gap between both holes a bit

Eagle-eye Hugues Ben non - y en avait plus dans la boiboite magique... no more imperial blue ano'ed nuts This is the only non-metric piece of hardware on the kit btw!

Spent a while in the shop trying to find the right shoes for this car...

The good news is that 2.15' rims are still easily source-able.

The rear will get HB impacts, the front some Losi ribbed tires - both with AKA red inserts. Just because I had all these in my new tire box

Cleaning the molding residues with WD40 - for shelf purposes only, don't do this if you really want to glue them as this will simply prevent them to stick FOREVER.

Still, ride height was bit high at minimum and the shock stroke was not used the best it could have been - so time to move out the shocks on the A-arm, and pull out the dremel as the modern shock eyelets were too thick to fit in the vintage black TRX-1 A-arms...



Except, as you can see, these are genuine WHITE A-arms. I dremeled the snort out of un-find-able white TRX-1 A-arms... this was painful to find out!

Nothing a black sharpie can't fix tho

Looking great. The arms were already dyed so its not like you hurt them any more than they already were. AND...where does white come into the theme at?

Getting close to done on this one so gotta start looking for the next project

There's some white on the body... but, true, those rims clash with the rest of the project somewhat

I just have one experience of dying plastic parts and it was a disaster... and this was for a TRX-1 already, the black dye never really got into the plastic, which ended-up brownish. Not sure I'm willing to try again to be honest. At least those rims are easily sourceable

To dye this stuff takes a definite 'want to do'. I've had issues with black not taking in and turning brown also. Looked like crap when I was done and ended up looking worse than the off colors it was to begin with. If you do try to dye a set of those wheels simple green the crap outta them and then boil them first to get rid of the form release agents on the nylon and they'll take dye easily and uniformly

I'm thinking this one could use a nice set of alloys like some blue T&A wheels to be over the top but then again...they don't hold up well the way I"d run it
