Re: Composite Craft RC10T - Dream Build
Thanks. Yeah, I was hoping the polish would make them pop against the black.
I cut and threaded some aluminum 4-40 bolts to attach the RPM transmission. I cut them so they sit flush on the outside of the motor plate. I still want to have the motor plate milled with some lightening cuts, but I don't want to go through the delay of sending it out for a couple weeks right now. Down the road, when I have several items to have milled at once, I will get it done.

Re: Composite Craft RC10T - Dream Build
Thanks. I spent a lot of time on it to make it as perfect as I could.
Got a lot of building done this weekend. I received the correct 8-32 counter sunk aluminum pieces. They have the correct 100 degree on the head. Nearly all the hardware on this build is anodized black aluminum. I am very fortunate to have many of the special/hard to find pieces on this truck. Besides the brand new unicorn CC chassis and components, items like RPM front spindle carriers, RPM rear over sized carriers, MIP aluminum CVDs, and RPM transmission brace are all very hard to find. For me at least, lol.

Re: Composite Craft RC10T - Dream Build
Minus the shocks, this is mostly a slider now. I am very happy with how it is turning out. I won't be keeping the purple spur gear. I sort of threw it on to see how it looked. I still need a proper aluminum washer and 6-32 nut on the end of the shaft.
I have gone back and forth on what style of hardware head to use on the top of the chassis. In the end, I think the small button head looks the cleanest. One aspect I am not thrilled with are the ball studs. I prefer the rounded style to the hex. I think I will order some to replace the current units. They are not seen much once assembled, but it is all about the details. I was also thinking anodized black aluminum ball studs may look nice as well. Any suggestions in this area?
Does anyone know if there are black colored shock springs (F&R) that will fit the RC10T?

Re: Composite Craft RC10T - Dream Build
Great. Thanks for the links. I used your part numbers, and it turned out great. I got a set of black springs. I think they look nice. I may also change out the shock shafts to some FT unobtanium units, for their darker color. They should fit into the whole stealth look.DaveM wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2017 8:06 pm Hi,

Keep the ball studs stainless.

I also changed out the ball studs to rounded, titanium units. It is a small, but better look. Their shorter length also let me get rid of the nuts on the front carriers. Cleaner look.

Good eye. I actually picked up a set for spares.scr8p wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2017 9:09 am Looks good!
Don't forget the RPM servo mounts.

Great timing. I was just searching for some servo mounts for this build. I hadn't considered these, but they will be perfect. Thanks!scr8p wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2017 9:09 am Looks good!

Update - I was lucky to find both the RPM steering blocks, and the FT Unobtitanium shock shafts at one of my local hobby stores today. Unfortunately, one of the rear 1.32" shafts was actually a front length, so I will need to find another. I installed the fronts though, and I like the subtle change. They are not quite as dark as I expected, but they certainly go with the stealth look. The second picture shows the difference between the shock shafts.
The spur and motor will be replaced. I thought the Reedy Mr. motor would go better with this build, but as SofaKing pointed out, there are some better options out there.

Re: Composite Craft RC10T - Dream Build
The rear shock shafts are now completed with FT shafts. It is a small, but noticeable change.
I also got some RPM shock bottoms, which have a nicer shape IMHO, and go with the RPM theme. I also got a RPM battery tray, but the spacing is wider than the chassis holes, and I am not about to drill holes into this chassis. Shame, because it really looks nice sitting on the chassis. I may still come up with a way to make it work.
The two front mounts on the upper chassis take button head screws. However, the height of the screw heads means the RPM front body mount cannot lay flat. To fix this, I countersunk the front holes in the upper deck, and secured it with countersunk screws. The RPM body mount now sits flat.
I decided to use Losi 1 piece rear RC10T/LXT wheels (with clear outer disc) and Associated narrow front wheels. I dyed both black. I am using PRO-92 Fuzzies on the rear, and RED narrows up front.
I am still trying to pick a motor. I have a new spur gear on the way, to replace the purple unit I had on for a few pictures. I also have a RPM gear cover, but I hate to cover the slipper and gears.
Andy's body painted in box art inspired theme, with black on the back. I added OG RC10T decals. I also made a clear wing on back. The truck is getting real close to being done. I am still working on some small details. I don't think I am going to add an esc or receiver. The chassis is too pretty to cover, lol.

Digging your color scheme. I was thinking the same colors but gunmetal instead of the black.
