Slightly different setup than tow weeks ago as this time the event is nearby, and I won't spend the night in the car...

The car is ready, the target is to take off around 7am tomorrow morning. I left a bit of place for the Fantom and for my son's Lunchbox (he will only use those two (which allowed for more cars for me ) as he mainly intends to take pictures and videos during the event)...

Well, not just today but over the past several days.
I've taken a big step toward resolving my runner RC storage dilemma.
Most of them are now hanging from the walls in the garage.

It's nice to finally reclaim some closet and attic space.

That is a great idea and I would shamelessly copy it if my garage walls weren't already covered with RC planes.

Just some scrap lumber, screws and nails. I've tried to keep it simple and easy to reverse.

All of them are screwed into studs which should be on 16" centers but, looking at the uneven spacing along that large wall, I'm guessing the framing crew was drunk (or high) when they built my house.

Not exactly today, the dust is now settled... Yesterday, I spend a nice day in Belley, during a vintage event "La Belleysanne 2014" organized by the local club. The event was 40 minutes ride from my home, and the load did not include as many cars as within Montluçon twoo weeks earlier...

I had my son with me, and while he only took his lunchbox and the Fantom to run (I'm replacing ming with a CXT Gold which I need to assemble for next vintage event with a real track, not a pacman), and he really targeted to take pictures...

We first settle our table. The organization team set a double table for us, as they know I generally come with quite a few cars...


Once the stuff was in place and lipos charging, I took the time to take pics of the other tables...













There was also an exposition part...




I took the pics early in the morning and the last empty tables were taken a bit later, but I did not thought about taking pictures... It was a lot of fun, I broke a few parts, and except the Zerda and the Wild One all the car ran quite a bit.

And there was a few lessons learnt:
- While MJF was perfect for this, it seems than SLS did not work perfectly for the Super Wheelie suspension shaft pivot ball as they got free during a big jump... The car continued working like a charm but with a very different attitude... I may need to think about a solution for this (I have an idea in mind, easy to deal with)
- The Mitsubishi suspension with shocks is super smooth compared to the original spring of the Super Wheelie, to the point it appears easy to run fast... But I was a bit too fast and snapped a knuckle (at full speed) because I was not too much carefull... I'll replace it, and there was no other damages, although the car made a nice looping on the shock with the track side which crossed the track...
- The Hirobo Hilux with printed parts ran like a charm. And it was really amazing : while the car is short and very lively, it runs smoothly, appear well balanced on jumps and it is joy to use. And it runs quite silently with no belt skips

Again a lot of fun... I may share action shots later on (my son took a lot of pictures, and there is quite a good number of nice action shots).

Was yesterday, but I went racing and ran the RC10 "Silverpan" the Genova and my normal B6.4. Genova ran really well but only did 1 heat with it and switched to my RC10 to match my competition. Day started out rainy so the Turf track was pretty slick a very challenging day, hunting for traction. It was the most offroad expierence I've had since getting back into the hobby

Rear Motor Silvercan class only had 1 other car, a RC10 Worlds. We had a fun time going back and forth on the track ultimately I lost because i decided to drive too aggressively and made a few mistakes during the main. But the funny part was beating the lap time of my B6.4 in it during the qualifiers. The RC10 just felt way more confident on the wet track than my B6.4, much had to do with the more relaxed motor than the modern buggy's 17.5 motor. As the track tried the B6.4 became faster again but still I have to really hand it to the RC10, I didn't touch any of the settings on the car all day, it just ran great the entire time. Only issue I had was I popped a ballcup, and on one of the heats I somehow lost an e-clip on the rear outer hinge pin but still finished the race despite it backing out, in fact I didn't even notice the issue till I brought the car back to the pits and noticed 1 wheel was a lot higher than the other.

The other class was a fight though. I had regrettably installed a slipper eliminator in the B6.4 last month, so i was on a slick track with no slipper and only my throttle control to rely on. Conditions improved throughout the day and I did manage to place into the A, unfortunately the rain rolled back in for the A main, the last of the day, and it absolutely soaked us. The track was like racing on ice but managed to at least hold it together reasonably well and held my position and had decent consistency considering the conditions.

I stuffed foam inserts into tires and started laying out parts for my RC10 Graphite refresh.

It begins

Those are Trinity rims with some lightly used Trinity tires. Both are over 30 years old. The FanRC parts are for my RC10 Graphite refresh project. Its getting new titanium tie rods and hard anodized shocks all around.
