Top Force re-re vintage racer

Post by mtbkym01 »

along with my recent Factory Works Fox build, I’m now building a 4wd to race in Vintage demo at this years Aus Nats. Debated with myself about what to build, then found a great deal on a TF kit

Image

Also started to aquire some hop ups, including a brushless 17.5 combo as per the rules for 4wd

This one will also have custom colour MCI stickers as the FW Fox has

This build isn’t illustrated step by step, more a catalogue of parts used and milestones of the build process

Starting with these lovely gold screws

So shiny
Image

As it’s 17.5, decided to try a high speed gearset

Fitted with an alloy motor mount

Carbon shock towers
Image

Titanium turnbuckles

Rear end taking shape

The “official” hop up shocks for this kit are HiCaps, but the crazy price they are going for now forced me to look at alternatives
Image

Built up with TRF X rings

And thats the rear end basically done

I love pepperpots on most everything ... But man those Tamiya wheels just go with it. I cast my vote for the Tamiyas.

That's a great looking buggy!

Just curious, is the pink a reference to Jamie Booth?

Ah no, I didn’t even consider that actually. I ordered JC Racing pink wheels and wing for my MX4 rebuild, and loved the colour, so ordered some more wheels for this and my FW Fox builds. They should help me see them on the track too
