That's a thought too. It is best to go as wide as possible since there is really only 4mm available, so taking a bit from the motor plate is a possibility. I think if I have Jake make another pulley at some point (as Jake is stabbing himself in the head reading this lol) I will have the pulley sit a tad deeper (sink the pin hole a bit more) and have the slipper plate sit out further (thicker area behind slipper plate and inner flange of pulley) It is so close now it would only be a slight tweak.

Once again..awesome and exciting to follow! I suppose you could tell Jake I'll let you off easier with a custom milling to the motor plate..this timegomachv wrote:That's a thought too. I'm sure you've already though of it but it looks like TBG's sidewinder body may be just high enough where it would need to be. In case you haven't:
Keep it coming!

Ah snap! That's the ticket right there. I hadn't put any thought into it but that would be the perfect way to hide the hump. Good thinkin!

If you need a belt of custom width I can help. I have made a wide belt into thinner ones with a jig on my lathe.

ooohhh, I used to hate the sidewinder, but Niki made a great looking one. His wide front wheels almost look 4wd too.

This is progressing nicely. I think the sidewinder body might be the perfect fit! Nice find.

Well, with the sidewinder on this one you wouldn't see the front much so it's more about the hump
I will let you know on the belt. I fired off an email to a gates supplier that stocks the belt I need but in 5,6,9 and wider widths.

Did you manage to figure this out? Even if you have to flip it and get creative, you may be able to incorporate an a3214 Losi XX4 clicker up against the front pully. Still readilly available for about $8.00, these are lockable and adjustable.Charlie don't surf wrote:The belt cars seem to work better with a one-way, or clicker- otherwise they skip under braking, and they lack a "solid" drive train connection IMO. Not to sure on the 4-10 front slipper set-up, but Aaron would know-gomachv wrote:I was thinking my application may be wrong for the actual part but the idea is perfect. If love to borrow one to have a look
While I am working on this portion, what is the most ideal for all around- front slipper, front oneway, both, or solid. I assume solid is best for being easy to drive but probably lacks on the track compared to a oneway. Not sure if a front slipper is necessary, why did MIP go to one?
depending on the spacing of the Yokie one-way unit it could still work and the TCS and solid pulley can have the same tooth count as the back-plate, so no under/overdrive-
PM me your address, and get me a measurement in mm from "center to center" of the topshafts, and I'll see if I have a belt that might fit-

We will see how it goes when the belt gets here and I can put power to it. Once the concept is shown to be viable then I'll make a proper nose and look into a clicker or one way.

My $4 belts showed up today. Way to wide of course, narrowed one up with a quick tool I built. I will need better precision tho
Is a close fit, good tension considering no tensioner yet, and no clearance issues. Jake knocked the pullies out of the park! Couldn't be a smidge smaller or larger on the slipper side

Looks good man. I am glad the pulleys worked out for you. Time to get a tensioner created and put some power to the wheels.

Changing belts at the track would not be fun haha! Let's just say the motor plate needs to come off. Not that hard, well...now that I've done it 17 times lol
