Re: Flashlight Infatuations, anyone else share?
I've had a maglite most of my adult life. They work so much better than the cr** I grew up with and they never seem to stop working, unlike the lights of old.
When I was in the construction trade I bought a DeWalt tool set that has a goose neck flashlight. It didn't replace my maglite, but it certainly was irreplaceable when working under a house or an attic. The gooseneck allows you to set the flashlight down and direct the beam where you need it OR you can wrap the neck around a pipe, board, nail, etc and hang it while still directing the light where you need it. At 18v, it's plenty bright and it's a full beam, unlike the maglite with it's big dark spot in the middle of the beam.

Glad to see there is some Maglite love out there. This story about their founder and made in the USA story is good:

Also for accessories including LED drop-ins look at malkoffdevices.com, which is where I got the red tail cap and head for my red one.

You have hit upon another affliction of mine Adam... I have one these: http://cgi.ebay.com/FUSION-36-LED-POWER-MODULE-2-6-C-D-Cell-MAGLITE-/120726577359 in a 6D Maglite I bought at Ace for $10 around Christmas. Easily a nice 500 lumens for $25. My 6D Maglite is black though
I've sold off many of the 'shelf-queen' lights I've had the past few years. Yes, there are those in the flashlight hobby too.
I started off being a bit of a collector:
I ended up buying several custom lights that will really spoil you:
JetBeam TCR2 Titanium
A Ti one of these: http://macscustoms.com/TriEDC.aspx
My favorite that will put a spot on somehting hundreds of yards away: https://omglumens.com/DEFT.html
Check out candlepowerforums sometime. Beware though, as it can get a little addictive too! I really enjoy anything from macscustoms and JetBeam more than any of the others. One recent purchase I've made though, really floored me on brightness, build quality, and most of all price. This little light puts out over 500 lumens that is overall less than half the size of a minimag for only $30. http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?251654-NEW!-XM-L-Xeno-E03!!!-500LM-AA-14500-Pocket-Rocket!-(CW-NW-WW!)

Re: Flashlight Infatuations, anyone else share?
beeing a tv/appliance tech a good mini mag is a must except when you drop it on a concrete floor. i was tired of constantly breaking the tiny grain of wheat bulbs in the 2aa mini mag lites so i bought a drop in led conversion, broke that too, so i got one of the new 1 watt luxon led mags; http://www.maglite.com/AA_Cell_LED.asp wow talk about blindingly bright luxon led's rule! this thing is as bright as a 2d/3d light and as bright as the h.i.r. headlight bulbs i have in the hemi magnum. luxon led's are the brightest led's ever and AUDI even uses them for their headlights. i have droped it quite a few times and it hasn't broke yet and the 4 modes are cool too.

Anymore I only need one of these. The only problem is that when I go to "charge" it, it gathers so much energy that when you turn it on the light emitted punches a hole in the space-time continuum. It has something to do with muscle training. I'm not sure what that means though... Guess I'm just well trained.

I really like the feel of the big C vs big D cells, but no way could I justify that. For once logic and sanity prevailed over something I wanted on eBay.

Re: Flashlight Infatuations, anyone else share?
This thread reminded me of a sign i saw along I-45 about 60 miles south of Dallas. There is an "adult video" store along the freeway that had a sign that was advertising "fleshlights". My wife and I couldn't stop laughing. If you've got a fleshlight infatuation, I don't think you should be telling anyone here about it!

Re: Flashlight Infatuations, anyone else share?
When I first saw this threads title I read it as "fleshlight infatuation" but I kept it to myself.
Anyway... the only flashlights I have of note are a 4D Maglite and a mini-maglite. Id like to convert the 4D one to at least LED.

Re: Flashlight Infatuations, anyone else share?
Was at Lowes today with my son and I had to walk by the flashlights. Silver 4D Maglites were on sale for $12! I don't know if they are silver anno or bare aluminum, but I bought two, one for him and one for me.
