Found these two sad #1 esc's in my stuff! Notice one is an early type that is 3 wire, cases held with tape and large square switch, #1 is a round sticker covering a hole ! The later #1 is a 4 wire with screws holding the case together different switch and the "1" is now printed on the label! Check out the (aftermarket?) heat sinks on the early one!!!
Here they are restored! I cleaned them and added new wires, I will see if they work later!

Clean job on em man.
They look like filed-down pennies. As copper is one of the best metals as a thermal conductor, that would actually make a very effective cooler. All the high-end CPU and video card heatsinks use copper these days.

Slotcarrod, nice find! I have a few of those as well. Quick question for you. Do you know the gauge of the older esc's wire? 15, 16? I know the newer ones (T1X) used up to a 14 gauge.
I picked these up last week to experiment with. They didn't really cost much at all and they work
I can program the Cyclone with my own custom parameters or use one of the 20 saved Novak sets to use as profile 4 on the Cyclone. Too bad I...

Wait, you have a computer with a serial port and diskette drive?
I'm a Mac guy in all honesty, but yes I do. I found it in the garbage and put XP on it  I use it mainly for the old school Toyota Electronic Parts Catalog Software...
My neigbor is moving and gave me all his old RC stuff-mostly late 80's/early 90's. Included was a couple of used Clodbusters-probably enough to make one runner with a bunch of parts left over. Also in the box was a working T-4 ESC. I was going to...

Novak never spec'd motor turn limits back in the 80s; The manual for the T4 can be found here:

Hey guys...not even sure if this is the right place for this, but it's about electronics non the less. So does anyone have an idea why Novak is out of business? Just very curious, I'm sure like a lot of you the orange brand was what I dreamed of...
Anyone know the motor limit for a old school t4 speed control?

Will this help . check out p.5 step 2 . I have mine mounted on the rear shock tower.
I always ran trucks, but I always put my ESCs on the shock tower, on a bracket or shelf to keep them flat. If you cut an opening in the front windshield you will...
Hi, I emailed Novak about a possible overheating problem with my XRS esc.All I asked was what is the max temp for this unit.No answer about it. The car quits after 2 or 3 runs on the street. Then the power comes back after about 10 sec. Then I'll run...

if your thinking its getting to hot try and mount a fan on top of the speed control and see if that helps.
I started into designing a sticker for a Novak Rx I had, and then dove in the gallon bag of ESCs to find a sample that had a good case, but bad sticker, so I could print stickers to match. To my surprise, I found an ESC with no sticker at all, so...

Looks like you've got a Holy Grail there!
None of the swine in my stable deserve such a nice piece, but it may end up on the Holiest of chassis I have.
Hello All, In one of my recent car purchases I got a Novak T4. It is still functional but it seems that the brake mosfet is blown in it. Does anyone remember if the drive mosfet are the same as the brake mosfet? Does anyone remember who made the...

Yea I am from Toronto. I just checked there is no Sayal in Waterloo but there is one in Cambridge. It is a lot closer than the other stores. Much to my misfortune all of the good electronic component store are almost extinct.
