project RC12e4 take II, now finished!

Post by GoMachV »

So I got a sweet deal on 12L4 that had a bunch of CRC parts on it and the originals in the box. I converted the 12L4 back to stock (associated spent a lot of time designing it right the first time) and started mulling over what to build with the parts.... a little bit of creative routering and here is rough mockup...

Now this project is far....faaaar from finished. The deck posts are too short, and I want to make battery cutouts in the top deck, so this deck is going away. Also the rear plate is a stock 12L that was drilled to fit and in don't like it, so its going away too. The chassis has very little flex so I am cutting a new one from some thinner g10. Also thinking about doing the 12i style slits at the rear to act as a t-plate. The rear will get a ride height adjuster style setup. I also need a set of CRC red screws to bling it out. Who knows, I may even t-plate it....but I don't really want to

And I need a 100° countersink bit

Dimensions are exactly the same as 12L4, but the chassis is shaped like a 12e, standoffs coming, and will cut out shaker plate and add shock. Switched out the crc stuff for "stock". Now...where to put the pack

The chassis just wasn't doing it for me, so I got another sheet and cut it out with no T-plate (t plates are old technology now anyway right?) Just solid like a real 12e. Upper deck is some white plastic from the local plastics place. Nothing on the car is 12e. The oldest parts are 12L4 and rc10gt.

The first smart guy that comments on the lack of body mounts is on my $*@% list! LOL. Yup. Take III coming soon

Sweet build. I think it would also be interesting to see a similar builld using lipo/brushless and the smallest rx available.
