Lap times between my B4 and WOIN RC-10

Post by soniccj5 »

Entered a trophy race this past weekend with both my Old is New RC-10(17.5) and B4(10.5), and I was surprised to see how close my fastest lap times were between the two cars.

Car Lap
--------------
B4 18.132
rc10 18.742

Hope to get back to the track later this month to work on my times. Most guys were running 16-17 second laps.

doesn't suprise me one bit, even @ the vonats the 2wd class is just a couple of tenths off the mod pace (@rchr).
clean driving will do that.

You need to put on a cab-forward body and improve those lap times! ;) j/k

I was thinking about an 8.5 next in the B4 :D , although I should learn how to drive better first.

Most people will still run faster lap times or at least just as fast ones with a slower (to a point only...) motor than a faster one, especially in 2wd... despite what most traxxas customers think

What lap times were the faster guys running in 10.5?

Interesting result no matter what :)

The fastest lap times from the two mains I was in are included below. So I need to find an extra 1-2 seconds somewhere.

17.5 Fastest lap 16.948

10.5 Fastest lap 16.567

Seems like your driving is pretty consistent to me. Your experience sums up the whole "which brand car is better" or "is new better than old" debate nicely. It really doesn't matter what you are driving (Real race oriented cars - not plastic fantastic ghoppers) . It really is ALL about driving skill. About 12 years ago at a local race, myself and the other quick 2wd buggy guy traded cars and transmitters during one of the qualifiers. He was a B3 driver while I was XXcr driver. We both drove consistently well, and no one knew that we had switched until we picked up cars at the end of the heat.

i did that once, it was on a huge track. it was a wild ride, i was catching 1/8 buggies down the straight....if i could keep the front end down. 10.5 is just right for 2wd IMHO.
