Bleaching dyed black parts? Can it be done?

Can parts dyed black be bleached back to white?
I've got a set of nice black dyed white long arms, can they be brought back to a white? Or am I SOL?

Actually, RIT Dye makes a color remover, but I have my doubts on how effective it would be. Might be worth a try, anyway.

It's been tried several times, in fact several methods have been tried several times. Not trying to stop anyone from experimenting but a search on here will show what has been tried so you can rule those out

about the only way you can get it to go away is to literally strip off the thin layer that has been dyed. This will require a TON of work, and will result in a physically smaller part. If you were able to find a solvent for nylon, you might be able to get a large portion removed quickly, but it will be effectively melting the part.

I've never done it but from what I've read, I'm not even sure if that's correct.

I was under the impression that the RIT dye is absorbed completely throughout the plastic so that even if you chip or ding a part, you don't loose the colour.

Depends how long it's in the dye. If you let em sit for a while with some good hot water (I use a deep fryer!) it will penetrate more and more. I've cut into parts that have a slight ring of color and some that are penetrated halfway thru.

It doesn't absorb all the way through, but it does work in about 1-2mm. I have a trick for lighter colors but it only goes to do-do brown when trying on black. Leaving it black is better than that there are ways to remove colors.(no, not sharing) but not that color-

Bummer... Kind of what I thought.
For a shelfer I kind of like the Krylon white plastic paint idea. I got some spare junk parts I can try it on.
