Re: 12L3 score (updated)
The new T-Bar arrived this morning. Should have been another part for the dampener assy but it was not in the mailbox My stuff better not be lost!
I did some serious elbow grease work last night on the motor mount. It's shinny, not perfect but you can see your ugly mug it real sharp like. That's going to have to do.

Re: 12L3 score (update 2/21/18)
I got the part I was waiting for this morning and was able to go another step further. The shock was rebuild, all new dampener parts and hardware. New rear axle bearings from Avid. Next is the rear axle/diff. Not sure what I'm going to do there... rebuild the OEM unit or swap in a new IRS with clamping hub assy.

Re: 12L3 score
I see that the front caster blocks are installed so that the upper arms have a negative caster angle. Is this done for a specific purpose? I've only ever seen them installed so that the upper arms have a slight positive caster angle. Asking because ignorant and curious. Very nice build so far!

Re: 12L3 score
Matt, I really don't know much about the caster block angle. I reinstalled the blocks the same as they were when I got the car. I did some google action, saw the same thing so went for it.matt1ptkn wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 7:34 am I see that the front caster blocks are installed so that the upper arms have a negative caster angle. Re: 12L3 score
I managed to come up with a rear axle/diff assy from the AE 12R5.2 at a great price on ebay. It's all built from new parts and only required some select spacers to get it centered. While waiting on the USPS to deliver, I made a Kydex bumper plate. I'm real happy with the way it turned out, no crazy Dremel "skids"! The front shape matches up for a Protoform PFM-12 1/12 body. Depending on the front body mount placement (still pondering that), I may be doing some cut outs to up the cool factor.

Are those XCeed carbon wheels you're using? I chose those for my GNX 12L3 build. Nice and light, and a very nice price.

I really like the smooth lines compared to my edgy one I made. Great work!

Yes, I have 3 sets of tires, XCEED (my favorite), BSR Spec on black wheels and CRC Spec on white wheels.Coelacanth wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 7:50 pm Are those XCeed carbon wheels you're using? I chose those for my GNX 12L3 build. Nice and light, and a very nice price.

It took me longer to draw the pattern than to cut the bumper out!sandkil wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 2:41 amWow that front bumper looks awesome!NomadRacer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 3:51 pm I managed to come up with a rear axle/diff assy from the AE 12R5.2 at a great price on ebay. Re: 12L3 score (Updated)
I did a bit more work on the bumper, some cut outs to boost the look and reduce some weight. Still have to do the final sanding/polishing inside the cuts.
Looks like it will be awhile getting a Porsche 930 body from Sabulatech, not in stock I put my email request in to be notified. In the meantime, I'm going forward with the PFM-12. I started my markings for the front body post position (Sharpie markings). Tedious work but worth the effort to get it right.

Re: 12L3 score
I got some batteries recently from eBay. The dude that was selling lots of 100 cells let me get 25. I shared my score with a brother on the forum, sending him 6 cells... I'm not stingy! Still messing around with the PFM-12 body. It turns out, the body is pretty much a McLaren MP4-12C. I'm not in love with it, rather have a Porsche 930 Turbo from Sabula Tech @mytimac. All my paint colors and custom graphics are designed for that body.

Re: 12L3 score
Looks great Michael! But yeah, the 930 would look even better!
Thanks for "sharing the wealth" on the batteries. Mine are supposed to show up tomorrow.

Re: 12L3 score
Anytime Brian
I've been looking on eBay for a nice Novak speed control. There's a few that look decent but not sure which would be from the 12L3 era...
