Review of novus plastic polish for removing haze

I purchased some Novus plastic polish based on some posts here.

Results first

I kept this old shell to practice on. I stripped the paint on the roof with some dot3 and it left pretty strong haze.

I purchased the novus plastic polishing system at 2oz.
Taped over 1/2 the roof and used a polishing felt attached to my drill to polish out the plastic.

The difference is pretty notable. When you are looking though it you can clearly make out object on the polished side while the unpolished side completely obscures any view. It’s not as clear as the window polycarbonate.

It’s also great for polishing the outside of a body reviving the shine. It can remove a tiny bit of overspray as well.

I've always wanted to try their polish on a body, so I ordered a bottle a couple of months ago. I then decided to get the corresponding Novus polish mate cloths since they were cheap enough. I haven't tried it yet, but will be interesting to see if it adds any kind of discernible shine. Even if it doesn't, it's also supposed to protect from dust, light scratches, and fingerprints. I mean it can't hurt.

On the outside of bodies it’s great for bringing back shine and removing haze.

Good stuff! Second time this product has poppyup for RC restoration this week. I'll definitely check it out.

I honestly don't think it makes much difference. That haze you get from certain chemicals trying to strip paint from Lexan isn't just a surface problem, it gets INTO the Lexan. That's why you see a slight improvement but still plenty of fog and haze that's still there. When you paint on Lexan with certain paints, like Pactra for example, it doesn't just sit on the surface; it bonds with the Lexan. Since Lexan is so thin, less than half a millimeter thick, it doesn't take much for this bonding to sink deep enough into the Lexan to make surface polishing insufficient.

This isn't to suggest it's not an improvement, and you can still get half-decent results repainting a stripped, hazed body, but you will notice the imperfections. And there are areas on bodies that cannot easily be buffed/polished.

You can notice the hazed areas on this body I tried stripping and polishing if you look at the lighter areas at the rear of the body behind the side windows, on this basher body. My point for posting is just to save someone from hours of work and elbow grease only to get mediocre results. A new body is still the better option.

I'll agree with this. Fine grit polishing will improve slight scratches and scuffs on Lexan, but it won't really help with chemically-induced haze.

Funny that this should be brought back up as I'm currently in the midst of organizing the basement, and I found the bottle and cloths I bought of this. I still have yet to gave it a try.
