Honestly a lot of the original AE engineering could have been better in terms of the chassis. They got away with a lot by using aluminum, that gives before breaking. Basically any screw should have a full shank size from any edge for longevity. On the later rc10(DS) they started using smaller sized screws where they could and jet nuts to back the screws that were too close to the edge.

A main back in stock for $379.99 on eBay.

I wonder how many of these they made.

They probably have another 75.

I am now revising my estimate to 7k

Yes, they offer them on ebay and in their store but not on their website. Very strange. :?

Not gunna lie I kinda like how the ivory parts go with the silver pan kinda wish i had the silver shocks though.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Looks cherry.

Did you purchase the silver pan separately?

What ESC/motor/servo are you going with?

Making those shocks match the chassis is pretty easy. Just have to be able to commit! :D
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

This is going to be used in the Silvercan Class so it's a Tamiya Sport Tuned, Novak GT7, and a Spektrum S6040 servo. This is stuff I pulled off of cars I'm currently not running. Also I've adapted the car to use Kyosho Turbo Scorpion rere wheels.

Couple things of note that I've found (these may be present on all short arm RC10s but this is the first I've owned):
  • You need to add around 0.5" of spacers and use the outside holes to the rear to keep it from drooping so much that the axles rub the arms.
  • Also needed to trim a bit on the front arms to keep the steering from hanging up on it when turning

I might do that with the older set of shocks I have if I decide to go to longer front arms and shock towers.

I wasn't planning to buy a 40th (holding out for what comes next) but while shopping on Liquid for parts for other projects a few days back, it just kept speaking to me then FOMO kicked in. Since this is a limited edition and there likely won't be parts support (part numbers have been removed from the manual), I've lost hope that anything will follow anytime soon.
Anyway, the kit arrived yesterday and it's serial number 2045. It's a very nice kit; parts are very high quality overall. AE has done a great job on this one and I really appreciate the opportunity to build a new RC10 one last time. :D

Anyone know the name of the condition, or sickness, that compels one to build the wheels first, with every model?

Can't quit doing this. Cart before the horse syndrome?

So far we are at 5669 I believe. With AE telling people that have preordered and not received yet that they will be filling them at the end of the month makes me wonder if the new batch will be higher numbers or if they were all same batch and just shipping later from Taiwan

Amain sold the (24) they had, or (4) cases.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/404977430099

The AE sticker only has four digits, they can't make more than 9999.

If this were the Price is Right, circa '85: I'm going to bid 9999 units, Bob.
