They are pretty cool aren't they? I really wanted to keep narrow fronts and original style wheels for a stock looking appearance while doing the 4wd conversion.

They are printed tires from mciracing.ca and they are awesome. They're my first time handling or seeing 3D printed tires and to my surprise the rubber compound is nice and soft. The outside facing sidewall of the tire is nice and smooth, the inside wall does have some dimples from the printing process but it's really not that bad and could be sanded out.

mciracing also modified his original styled front wheels with a 12mm hex and printed those as well, they look great and have a nice finish.

Thanks Jeff. The Ten4.1 kit is really awesome, the fitment of everything you would think it come from AE like that.

Yes I think you should offer some OG style fronts with the 12mm hex. MCIracing.ca designed and printed these ones for me and they are excellent, they are one piece. He also prints the tires.

i may have missed it-- wondering about the front diff -- is it a spool or a ball-diff?

another question is how much steering does this kit give? Is it equal to the 2WD steering throw?

Has anyone raced this kit? Is it mildly competitive to say a B44?

You really need to read up on our FAQ and parts list to get the full idea of what we did but it uses a stealth diff up front and will have, as with every 4wd, slightly less steering than a 2wd, but the same as a Kyosho optima or similar 4wd of the era.

As the maker of this conversion, I can say wholeheartedly no, it will not compete against a b44. It was never meant to. Its a rear motor converted 2wd buggy. It was meant to compete with the optima and radiants and other cars of the era. If you want a competitive 4wd that will run with cars designed 20 years newer this is not it.

My question on another forum about the rc10 4x4 conversion led me to this site and now have the chance to build one of Jeff's kits...finally.

It actually looks pretty good out there. definitely slower in the corners than modern stuff but considering what it is it's pretty impressive.

The bellcranks can be trimmed down to make for extra steering angle. This may void the non-existent 4.1 warranty, but the cranks are made of ~5.3mm thick nylon, so some trimming isn't going to hurt anything IMO. I haven't broken out the angle finders or anything, but my FR01 Ten4.1 is in the ballpark of a standard RC10 in regards to steering angle at this point.

My plan is that the CVs are the limit, not the kit. If I get it to the point of the CVs being the issue, then EPA fixes that. That part is easy.
