Order a couple things from Dhawk. The seller information made me laugh a little.

Maybe I'm just a bit immature.

With the Asian languages, it's all about immaturity!

When I traveled central America a few years back, they don't have street addresses, it's more of a general "I live here next to that place" kinda thing. The way it was explained is like giving someone directions to your house only using visual landmarks. How the heck sending mail works with any accuracy is beyond me.

Not to detract from the beautiful display of lightning above, but I was recently browsing an assortment of Japanese whiskies and spotted this:

This guy gets the jerk award. He readjusted his parking job to make sure he was taking 2 spots, and then left his vehicle blocking one direction of the roadway. Brilliant.

Seems like it would be a ticket or towable offense to me if they left their vehicle like that.

Most of the ramps we go to are private, and there are no hard fast stated rules in regards to ramp etiquette and parking, as it is assumed that users are decent people with common sense and understand the basics of how a boat ramp operates. In 2025, these are bad assumptions.

There is a public, free, boat ramp 10 minutes from our house, and it is so much of a cluster fawk, that we happily drive about 30 minutes, and pay $8, to launch at a semi-respectable ramp. There are a few idiots there still, as to be expected, but overall a good place to go.

Sweet pic! Yeah, on the fascination thing, me too. When I was in wildland fire, save for the fairly seldom human starts, we would chase lighting. Just the power of it is amazing. Where and why it strikes what it does. Trees with spiral blowouts..is it because the tree has spiral grain? Some trees just get zapped, others disappear in an explosion of slabs and shards. High on a ridge, or low in the canyon, if it is going for the path of least resistance, why would it want to work so hard to strike grass in a canyon bottom? I've asked some lightning nerds over the years and all they really have are voltages, polarities, and bolt diameter trivia. And then when you think about it, is it just converted solar energy created by lofting moisture to such a height that it's gotta come back down in such a "dynamic" fashion? It's gotta be. Right?
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Most of our local launches were redone about 10 years ago. All of the parking slots were setup to allow for a fairly large truck and trailer to be parked together.

Private or not, you would think the site owner/manager should do something about it. 1st offense is a warning on their windshield and recording vehicle and trailer info. 2nd offense repeated warning. 3rd offense, vehicle towed and user banned from the premises for the season/year.

The warning would be that further offenses would result in tickets, towing, and banning.

Arseholes deserve every kick in the teeth that they can be given! And, they only learn by means of pain and suffering on their part, so, fines, tickets, towing expenses, impound fees, and banning from the premises!
