Identifying a Kyosho
I have two KYOSHO Corporation buggies. How do I determine the model? They are the same cars, aluminum chasis, red shocks, battery mounts perpendicular to the chasis, weird steering set up, and no identifying marks.

How do we help determine the exact model without pictures? ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

Were there other Kyosho models with transverse battery configuration, and the crappy red shocks...from Kyosho...other than those two?Coelacanth wrote:How do we help determine the exact model without pictures?

Easy.
Chassis: flat plate, channel, or square
What color is the chassis
What color are the shocks and how many (red)
2wd or 4wd
Those should get you very close
Optima

Ultima

exactly, the red shocks and battery layout coupled with the popularity if those models is a very likely matchCharlie don't surf wrote:Were there other Kyosho models with transverse battery configuration, and the crappy red shocks...from Kyosho...other than those two?Coelacanth wrote:How do we help determine the exact model without pictures?

Yeah, it's so easy that we already have more than one response.
And, we're ASSuming that the car is bone-stock with no upgrades/downgrades or modifications. Bottom line: Unless pics are posted, you're all just speculating. ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

Re: Identifying a Kyosho
Thanks guys, ya'll were all over it from the get go. They look to be the 2wd Ultima. Are these worth putting any money into? I got them in a parts lot for my RC10 Team Car. They don't have bodies, the wheels are shot, the upper plastic pan is cracked on one, but the chasis and shock supports are in fine shape, as well as the diff. and trans.

Re: Identifying a Kyosho
Geez they look a bit rough, but you shouldn't have too much trouble cleaning them up and making one good car from the two.
They look like the first version Ultima's, here's a manual.

Good luck with it all.
