Rail buggy

Post by Brandon G »

Just got this in a couple of days ago, it's an early Xmas present! It is a Reaper Customs rail buggy utilizing Traxxas running gear. It has aluminum everywhere, all metal gears, Robinson slipper and steel spur. 4 pole 4700kv Hobbywing BL motor and ESC. OFNA 1/8 scale buggy shocks.

I installed Proline beadlock wheels that I bought from Extreme Hobby Shop. Got a few other changes in mind so stay tuned...

8) nice present. Been wanting one of these for awhile now...just haven't been able to justify it for myself at the present time. Yours might just push me over the justification point though

Very cool rig!
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Sweet ride. 8)

There was a guy selling one on craigslist here recently, for the bargain price of $2000!

Hope you got a better deal on yours.

I'd say so, I won it for $230 shipped. Came with the buggy as you see it,
2 4500 and 2 5000mah lipo packs, a full set of mounted proline calibers, and 4 new unglued traxxas wheels. The only thing I bought for it so far were the beadlock wheels. I think it was a good deal.

I keep coming back to this thread and drooling over the pics! I need one of these! There's some cool beach spots to run sand cars a couple miles from here.

That was a fantastic deal. I paid a lot more for my Boyer buggy and it didn't come with aluminum arms or transmission

Roof and front lights as well as taillights are on the menu. I will be redoing the lexan to wrap down around the sides more and also make a hood for the front. A narrow spoiler on the rear to somewhat resemble the full size Glamis cars will be going on also.

Did some work on the shocks this weekend. Way too much droop in the rear, had to add 1/4" worth of limiter under the piston to get it under control. Left the soft springs in front and swapped out the oil to 20wt. Rear needed the hard springs and 50wt. This thing is a big heavy pig.

Haven't run it yet. We make a yearly vacation to Destin, Fl in early October. I plan on tearing up some sand while I'm down there. :D
