I am a 41 year old living in Raleigh, North Carolina, who has just gotten the RC bug again. My first hobby grade RC car was a Tamiya Hotshot in 1986. In 1987 I got an RC10 from Tower Hobbies in NYC. Which I still have in the original box. RC cars were a huge part of my early teens.
This forum is really awesome! I've spent so much time pouring over all the info here, that is time to introduce my self and say thank you.
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll get my butt over to the storage unit, dig my car out and post some pictures.

Welcome! At 34 I just bought an RC10 B4 and intend on reliving my youth! (except racing with a budget that means one day i might stand a chance of winning).
Y'all are going to be playing with your rc cars in the old folks home soon! I'm only 38
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas Factory Works website
Matt, not to worry. I hope to retain my young spirit and wonder of all things RC as long as I can fly and drive them. Would love to see what you've got.
Welcome. Take it easy with throwing the word old around though, I'm about to turn 43
Anyway, I feel like a kid again since I recently got back into rc cars. Main difference now is that I have a whole lot less time and a whole lot more money
Yes, another of those middle aged guys with an itch to have some fun from his youth again. My parents shipped my my old box of RC stuff. I still remember the excitement when I got this baby back in 1986. 25 years later I'm probably just as excited....

It looks great!! Nice color on the body too... :D :D
Red: Metalic red from Pactra. I applied it heavier in the front than the back. That way when I backed it with black the red gets darker towards the back for a subtle color effect).
White:...
I was talking to my friend from high school and she asked me if I ever desired a car from my youth (mid 1970's to early 1990's). I thought about it for a couple of seconds and said no. There wasn't a IROC-Z, Mustang GT, Ferrari, Fiero, Honda CRX or...

Nice score Gary.....and if ya wanna drop a Poncho back in it...I know a guy with a ton of GTO stuff.
This car came from a member on this site, can't remember the name off hand. It was a dusty bone stock JRX2. No body, red 5 spoke wheels, and it turned out to be really nice with a good cleaning.
Anyway, my first JRX2 in 1989 I bought new to replace...

I recently picked up what for me for a long time in my youth was the motor of dreams , the Tamiya (Mahuchi) RS-540SD Black Motor Sprint :!: Every Tamiya build manual had them in as THE upgrade motor , long before I started buying Radio Race Car or...

I have spent quite some time trying to collect up the various Demon motor (and ESC) iterations from that period. This was just as i was starting out in RC really. My MrT is a red base plate version....
I stumbled across RC10talk and found it to be full of great information compared to some of the other sites. My search started as I got this bug of wanting a RC10 from my childhood. The infamous gold tub. I remember great times with...

Wow that's a clean shelf car for sure. You got a good deal, with original shell, driver and decal set. Awesome!
Thought I’d share a picture to the group of a Mini Mustang I had as a kid back in roughly 1989 I reckon, body was a bit different.
I bought the car as a kid secondhand from a local bloke who had bought but not gotten on to well. I stripped and...

As has been mentioned above... use a modern sponge insert to reduce or remove the flat spot.... unless it is for the shelf, in which case, it is only flat on the bottom!!!
The Dynamite tyres were overlooked in the UK a little i think, which is...
There is a long story about me constantly begging a friend of mine to use or borrow his CB back when I was 14 or so, and him never doing it for the longest time. He never played with it, and it just sat there. Then a one point, he needed a favor...

Anyone who doesn't like it can... Well I just can't say cause I will be banned!
I am going to do my first build third with pics as I go. This is going to be a replica of the Hornet I used to race in my teeny years, as best as I can remember it. I have a couple of old photos that I need to scan and I also have some video I need...
