I've bought a few sets from RCSCREWZ and learned not to expect all the screws to be there. On the few that I've had there were some different headed screws substituted for the correct ones. The correct length but wrong heads. When I contacted them they said that I had the correct ones and someone had replaced them with the incorrect ones either prior owners or from the factory . The stainless they used was pretty decent though...

I can't believe they seriously used that argument. If the screws were replaced from the factory, then they simply didn't put together the set well...does "RCScrewz" stand for "ouR Customer Screwed"?

I agree that the RCScrewz fasteners were nice, good quality stainless steel...but I also remember some not being correct. That wasn't my biggest criticism of RCScrewz though...it was their absolute refusal to use common sense when shipping to Canada and insisting on shipping with Priority Post. I ended up buying 2 sets because the cost of shipping was more than the cost of 1 screw set. Worse still, it took almost 3 weeks for the screw sets to arrive, so any benefits I might've had by choosing Priority Post myself were negated.

I did get a reply from them and they have offered to send me the missing screws, so hopefully they follow through quickly. I understand that mistakes happen and as long as I get good customer service and a good fix for the problem, I'm satisfied. I think I will look into knk for future projects. Waiting for parts to show up in the mail is the bane of my existence but I guess there's no getting around it.

my biggest gripe was that they told me that the screws they sent me were supposed to be cap heads as they come from the factory...even though they were for countersunk chassis holes .

Its all in good fun I guess...I just used the original screws in those spots but it was like a deaf person telling me I was singing off key...

I'm digging the cosmo wheels too... on a cosmo I think the offset looks a bit on the too-large side, maybe? Not too sure about the rear tires w/ block pattern to be honest... I guess we shall see when it's completed

Update on the ultima project. Got a few more parts in the mail including the machined aluminum upper deck. Did some cleaning on it and put a tower hobbies "speed secret" motor. I don't think this is a high end brushed motor, but I had a brand new one laying around and I'm curious what kind of power a 14 turn quad motor has. I have a new body on the way from TBG and a new rollcage to top it off. Still have to decide what to do for the paint.

14quad with lipo zips a vintage 2wd around pretty well. This is like a 11 or a 12 on nimh... I'd watch out for that transmission. It wasn't designed to be that sollicitated in 1987...

I was considering having MCI make me a set of reproduction decals in colors that would match the rest of the car. I assembled the car using the stainless screws from rcscewz. What a joke that was. Their customer service and response time was very good, and the quality of the hardware seems very good, but the bottom line is that when I spend over $33 for a screw kit for a specific car, it should fit that car. Aside from the chassis screws, half of which were missing and they had to send me, nothing was the correct length. Screws that have to be a precise length, like the transmission screws, all had to be cut down. The upper shock screws had the same problem. When I was finished, 75% of the screws that came in the kit were unused. They insisted that the kit was for a vintage Ultima but I dont see how. I would have been better off going to the hardware store, buying long screws, and cutting them to length myself. Which is basically what I had to do anyway. I didn't have the heart to leave them bad feedback as they really seemed to try to make it right , but they need to reevaluate their products.

What would really look good on there is a white bumper up front, and a white motor guard in the back.
Not that huge crp thing but something close to original in dimensions
3D-print to the rescue

I like what you're thinking. I'm thinking of going with a white body with red/silver/black version of the original decals. A white bumper and motor guard might look really cool. The front bumper would have to be a white version of the original. I've looked at every bumper I could find and the original minimalist bumper looks the best. I'm sure the bigger andy's, crp, etc bumpers offer better protection, but they just don't look right to me. I'd love to find out the price of some custom white pieces. I'm still not sold on all the 3d printed stuff. Some of it looks really good and some you can see too much of the layering for my taste. I guess it depends on who prints it and the kind of machine/material they are using.
