Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Printed and fitted the right side chassis for the Samurai and it also fitted perfectly , I've just ordered both parts myself from Shapeways , I'll let you know when they arrive.

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Got a delivery from Shapeways today , that should be good but its not
, the chassis parts for the Marui Samurai is what I'd ordered but on inspection they are 1.5mm too long ! they advertise a dimensional accuracy of 0.15% but 1.5mm over on a length of 185mm is 0.81%
and makes it not a nice fit if your just fitting one side , it will fit just with a mix of original and my part , if you fit both sides then its fine but its not what i wanted really , I've emailed them to see how its happened and if I need adapt my model ?
Otherwise the chassis looks nice .

I've taken the model off sale for now until its resolved

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
I had ordered some parts that were supposed to be round, spacers iirc, and they arrived oval shaped. I inquired and they pulled that accuracy card until I sent pics, then they reprinted and the next were fine.
The big issue is the inconsistency, as buyers may think it’s your work that is incorrect when it’s the print.

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
I just sent pictures but it's hard to prove as I can't get both ends of a ruler in one picture , I could put a note in the description and only sell in pairs but it kind of sucks after all the work I put in to get it right .

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Shapeways have agreed to reprint the chassis and I've put it back up in my shop , I've only reinstated the pair of chassis halves as that way they are going to fit , its a shame but I don't want the grief of complaints that i can't prevent

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Just got the reprinted Samurai chassis and its spot on this time
, I've put it back on sale on Shapeways but only as a pair not as the right or left halves , that way no matter how much tolerance it will still fit .

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Last week I finally got started on remodeling the Yokomo Dogfighter yz-834b gearbox , it's now finished and ordered from Shapeways , if it comes back good then it's going in my shop , fingers crossed

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Very Very pleased with the Yokomo YZ-834b Dogfighter gearbox I just got back from Shapeways
It's spot on , even mates with its original other halves ! Going up on my Dadio Designs Shapeways shop today .
These next two show the original gearbox mated up to the printed version
The eagle eyed will notice the odd diff and Kyosho chain sprocket as I stripped out my runner gearbox as a comparison .

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Beautiful Dadio, absolutely beautiful!
It's virtually indistinguishable from the original part.
Awesome work.

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Just had the first test drive with the new yz-834b gearbox and it runs sweet as a nut
gear mesh sounds perfect , I'm a very happy boy , I think I need to start some sort of advertising but not a clue what to do ?

I just added to your empire and ordered some Coyote arms. Now hopefully I can finish building my 2 cars that have been stalled for years.

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
Just spent half the day getting a migrain converting my Samurai chassis into something that prints on a home FDM printer , got the left side done , it's broken down to 3 pieces and still needs a tun of support but at least it will print clean , I got started on the right side but my brain was thumping

Re: Dadio's 3D Printing Stuff
I can imagine what you mean, specially having a Samurai chassis in hands... Definitely not easy (and the featured suspension front springs are not making this easy - this is probably the most difficult thing to accommodate with FDM printing, I guess)...Dadio wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 4:19 pm Just spent half the day getting a migrain converting my Samurai chassis into something that prints on a home FDM printer , got the left side done , it's broken down to 3 pieces and still needs a tun of support but at least it will print clean , I got started on the right side but my brain was thumping![]()
