Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
I've heard good things about the Kingroon from a guy on RCGroups who raves about his and he also has other printers to choose from .
I'll also second the recommendation for the Orbiter , I have one fitted direct to a Dragon hot end on my Ender 5 on my own custom mount and it's worked perfectly and it's so light compared to the BMG direct drive with the Micro Swiss hot end I was using before .
I looked at the Bambu Labs P1P , very nice machine , can't justify the price of it right now but yea they look like the way to go if your buying now .

If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
At this stage, I still have a small hesitation between X1C and P1P : the X1C is clearly a step ahead and would probably cover 95% of my non flexible or transparent print requirements. And for the 5% remaining, it would just require me to break my parts in 2 and identify a way to fix them together... Not a very big deal.
Only question which remains is about the organization of the space allocated in the spare room, and how to make sure I have an active filtration in place for the printing zone... With an additional issue : I can find a cabinet in which I could enter the Ender 5 plus as well... I have a space of 200Lx80Dx250H in the room I can use, and all the cabinets I found are just 60 deep, which will work for the BL and the resin printer (as well the wash and cure), but not for the Ender 5 plus which is too deep. I need to see if I can modify the mount of the Y stepper motor so I can gain a few centimeters. And my wife wants the room to be presentable when we have family or friends sleeping there so I have no choice than to find a solution...

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
One more consideration (and the reason my ender 5 plus remains open air) is that once enclosed it becomes less useful for pla, you would ideally want an easily removable enclosure for multi materials. Also, warping on those said materials is insane so while it seems like a good idea, I would really balance its effectiveness. You may end up with an expensive enclosure that isn’t really useful for large hot prints.

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
Very good point indeed... Did not thought about this... I was thinking about a removable door and a removable top, but may be it won't be effective enough...GoMachV wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 3:15 pm One more consideration (and the reason my ender 5 plus remains open air) is that once enclosed it becomes less useful for pla, you would ideally want an easily removable enclosure for multi materials. Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
My Ender 5 is enclosed by mostly slotting foam craft board into the printers frame , only the top is larger to accommodate the top beam parts , the front and top are removable for low temp filaments but it's generally only a high temp machine , I don't even have the part cooling fan fitted most of the time , it's not the best looking but very functional and should be just as easy to do on the Ender 5 Plus as well .
If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
It did not took long. I've ordered a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon / AMS combo and a resin printer (Anycubic Photon M3). They have been ordered at the same time while both in stock, and I'm curious about which one will arrive first...
I'm thinking now about the way I'll get organized in the area to mitigate any issue on the WAF side. I'm thinking about a some dressing cabinet from IKEA, extended to have 70 cm inside, including noice dampening and proper ventilation/active carbon filtration... The 70 cm deep is critical as it is the room needed to get the Ender 5 plus in the same cabinet....

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
The prototype of my Universal Marui Gear (Mod 0.
set is arrived...
Here is the design:

It was designed to cope with all 2WD Marui cars, and to get as closed as possible of the standard Mod 0.6 gears ratios. It includes even the motor pinions (but I may decide to remove them at the end (not yet 100% sure), it is based on the Big Bear V2 differential design and it was clustered with the intention to reduce the total cost...
I will check the fitting and clearances in Hunter/Galaxy and Super Wheelie/Big Bear gearbox tonight (in both PA12 and PA12/GF).

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
Don't use an aluminium pinion with the PA12 Gf , they get eaten by CF
fast and I'd expect the same with GF , great idea

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
I got the resin printer (Anycubic Photon M3) and the post processing station (Anycubic Wash and Cure Plus) delivered today. It followed resin (some ABS like resin and some flex resin - I'll give more precision while moving forward on the tests I want to do : before I need to learn how to deal with resin printing).
While awaiting the Bambu Lab X1C Combo (it's not shipped yet), i rethought enclosure and work plan area for my printers, and storage for the resin, filament and printing tooling.
Searchiing for enclosure, I found a very clever and cheap way to build enclosure for Prusa i3 MK3S+, with IKEA Lack tables... The Ender 5 plus is too big for that, but there is a bigger table which could accomodate this. That is the new plan. There will be still a cabinet, but it would be more dedicated to storage than anything. The X1C is enclosed, and my current plan is to make it sitting on top of the Ender 5 plus enclosure (where I'll add cooling for when I print PLA). In the case the X1C is too noisy, I'll set another enclosure on top of the first one...
Beside this, I also started to look at Bambu Studio (the slicer for the Bambu Labs printer). It's a fork of Prusa slicer, and there is some very smart way to paint objects...

That is going to feed some interesting and funny ideas

I just received a notification indicating the X1C/AMS combo is on the way... I'm super excited (I think i'll check ten times a day the tracking until it arrives
)

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
My wife put the treadmill on sale last week, there was a lot of them on the ad site, I thought it would take a bit of time to sell... She put it at a good price, but not too high. One week after we had few proposal. Honestly, I did not thought it would be out of the place so fast. It's gone, now, and you can see here the area dedicated to my Printing/Plotter space :

Yes I know, it is empty
. I'm so happy it is empty right now
. I will get the furniture to install everything, and this probably in the course of the current week. I could try to start the Anycubic Photon M3 now, but I'll probably wait I have a decent work area to work on... The X1C Carbon Combo is probably going to arrive during the week and if not very early during the following one...

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
well, country side advantage is you don't really need a treadmill... Nice people just gave me money for it so it's not needed anymore... Maybe we get another lockdown at some point, but I'm not too woried about this : I used the treadmill only when it was snowing or raining anyway, and when the weather was nice, I don't even recall crossing anyone asking me why and how long I've been out during the lockdowns...
Anyway... I've opened the boxes I received yesterday morning

I checked the resin printer UV exposition is working, and leveled the bed. This is far easier than for a FDM printer : loose the 4 screws on the side of the bed, put it in place, add the paper on the screen and z-home the bed. Then tighten the screws making sure the bed is set against the paper sheet. I could have started a print test, but I won't today. I may have not ordered enough IPA, as this is required for the post processing : the wash and cure station has a big box, much bigger than the what I was thinking initially (IPA is not that expensive on amazon, when bought on big quantity and when you are not in an hurry to get it).
So everything is out of the boxes, I will have just to move them to the right place when I will have sourced everything and built everything...

It's here
. The box is big.

I would like to wait I have installed everything to open it, but I can't : I need to print parts for the Ender 5 plus enclosure, and the X1C would go on top of it. I'll have to unbox it tonight

Re: SilverTriple's printing stuff...
Well, that thing is crazy...
About 15 minutes to get everything ready, about 10 for a firmware upgrade or less, I was not next to it...

A print, 7 minutes of calibration to start it...
(if you want to see the hot end moving : https://imgur.com/pO9Zlci )
And 17 minutes later...

And some detail pictures

And the quality is just impressive...
I'm printing right now a bed scrapper...
And that was less than one hour after it was unboxed... It took about 48 hours to get a decent print on my Ender 5 plus. It is really impressive...
