Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Are the ASC 6582 Diff Thrust Spring and ASC 6587 Torque Control Spring different from each other?
- Or is it just that 6587 comes with the slipper locknut?

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
The diff spring is/was different from the slipper spring. It seems that at some point ae just started using the diff spring for the slipper.
All that too say the diff spring should work for the slipper.
The custom works parts can still be found at original prices. I’ve been using those to save my carded ae parts

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
82 is just the spring, 87 is the spring and nut.
If you need a low profile 5-40 locknut, these are perfect.

Most of my RC10/T's have them on the slipper or diff, Stealth and 6 gear.
They also fit the aluminum inline axles, but be careful when tightening them.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Thanks for the info above!
Follow-up:
I am digging through boxes to rebuild some Stealth transmissions - I have one #6628 RC10 Diff Spring.
- Is this one different from the other two (6582 and 6587)??

6 gear diff spring and nut. More specifically, the re-re. The original had separate part numbers.

Any ideas what this is? Seems like it should be something Tamiya.

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Tamiya TA01 or one of the trucks. Let's see the chassis better, that will narrow it down. If the arms are swept forward with a long chassis it would be a TA01 sedan. If it has a short chassis with arms swept back it was the truck. The TA02 sedans used long front suspension so that is ruled out
This series was my favorite. They were fun to bash around and drive really well. Lots of hop ups still available as well as decent parts availability

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
This is the easiest way to identify. The trucks (S10, F150, and prerunner) are the same as the TA02 but with the TA01 front suspension
Your chassis and front end make me think it was a truck to begin with

Re: The Official "What is it?" Thread
Thanks! Tamiya is definitely good at making a lot of crossover models with just a few tweaks.

What am I looking at here? I am thinking RS4, but all my RS4 stuff is CF.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

Many moons ago I converted my TA0-S10 into a locked diff drift car via some Hpi wheels n tires and body.
